Good grief! What a blessing that you feel well! You have a wonderful attitude & hopeful outlook, & I am so glad things are moving forward for you.
I can't imagine how that news felt went when first received. Feeling well is such a gift, it will give you the momentum you need to proceed.

I'm praying for the best outcome for you. I'm also on the six month schedule, but they do MRIs, not ultrasound.

7 1/2 years now with no alcohol so things have really changed.

What is TACE? I've never heard that term before and don't know what it is.

brit, I'm so sorry to hear about the HCC finding. When I was put on the transplant list over 4 years ago because of HCC, I only had to wait 3 months. You probably will have your transplant pretty quick.
I had 2 TACE's during the 3 month wait, and both of them shrunk my tumor considerably. I just finished my 4-year tests to check for any recurrence of cancer, but they don't expect to find a problem. I'll be praying for you. Marilyn

Marilyn, I've thought of you so often these last few weeks. You're definitely a success story. Giving me hope! Were you able to work? I'll be getting a sub since school starts the week after my transplant work up.
Tace is where they go in w a catheter and blast the tumor directly. It's a way to shrink n keep it from growing. I'm trying to write a blog about it, but still don't understand the whole thing. Sigh..

Karen, with the TACE procedure, they go in through the groin and inject chemo directly into the tumor. Microscopic little beads are in the chemo, which holds the chemo in the tumor for about 2 weeks or so to kill the cancer cells. With me (and most people I believe), after 10 days to two weeks, a little of the chemo leaks out into your system, causing tiredness and even a little loss of hair sometimes, but those sides don't last very long.
You asked about work. I wasn't able to go back to work for a few months, because I was so medicated, but it depends on how demanding your job is and if you can go back just parttime for a while.

It is so good to see all of you old timers still here offering support and also newbies! I'm 2nd day and so very sore and tired. It hit a lot harder than I thought.
The dr put in about 125 mg of beads. soaked in chemo. Now just some rest and waiting tor transplant eval to continue. I have more tests to run to be listed.
Again Marilyn, You've been an inspiriation from the start. I rememver being scared to death of cancer. Here I am facing it and it's not so bad when you have encouragement from those who have gove through it!

Karen, just get the rest of the tests done ASAP and get on the transplant list. The last test I had before getting on the list was the heart cath, because the heart doctor was so booked. Cancer doesn't wait. I'm praying for you. Marilyn
