I am new to this group.  My husband was diagnosed with End Stage Liver Disease in September 2010 at the age of 45.  He quit drinking immediately.  He was never a heavy drinker, I had never seen him drunk.  What I didn't know is that he had been taking Tylenol along with a couple of drinks every night. He was hospitalized and I was told to bring our kids in to say their last goodbyes.  He made it through, stayed sober and ate healthy.  Although unable to work he was able to live a normal life the next 2 years.  In 2012 he took a turn for the worst, had 19 liters drained and had the T.I.P.S procedure done.  He remained on the transplant list. Besides a few minor setbacks he had maintained his health, too healthly for a transplant.  In January of this year he started passing out and took numerous ambulance rides to the ER before they confirmed he had pulmonary hypertention caused by the cirrhosis.  Since January he is on Remodulin through a port and pump 24/7 and off the transplant list because of this.  In January he weighed 170, he is now down to 134. He is all bones except for a slightly enlarged tummy.  All his veins are enlarged and showing under his skin.  He is eating well trying to gain some weight but cannot. His disposition has changed, not confusion but very mean. I have spent the last 10 years of my life comforting him and feel as though this is the end.  The doctors won't tell me how much time he has left.  He has an appointment next week.
