I'm all brave and tough and I keep going. But when i go see my transplant doc and the tech puts that peek a boo gown on to measure portal vein pressure? I'm a sack of jello.

It's going to be all right. Just fine. I know it.

I just wanted to say it out loud. haha.

If we're talking about the same subject...I think I lost all shyness with my second hospitalization.

First one involved a catheter, for which I was thankfully unconscious when inserted. Second one involved bedpans, etc. so all dignity is lost.

I remember absolutely freezing in the ICU. Had plenty of blankets, but being a guy, had the "jug" to pee in. Wasn't using it, but with my arms under the blankets, trying to stay warm, I realized about ten seconds later that it looked like I was, ahem "playing with myself", but by then it was to late, nurse was gone so nothing to explain.

I've learned that in medical settings, they've seen it all. They actually forgot to remove my catheter the first time, asked the nurse what do I do with this, and she ripped open my "gown", yanked out the catheter and said, "Good to go".

No need to be shy.

I have no idea what a dopplar is as I've never had one. But i wish you the best. I agree with wtc they've seen it all and more I'm sure. I still get shy and self conscience as well though. I usually start cracking jokes then afterwards i think to myself omgi did not really say those things lol. Anyways i hope it goes quickly for you and everything turns out good.

By the time you give birth, modesty is out the window. haha. I know you don't have experience there... But your cath story made me wince. AAAAHHH
The blood flowed in the right direction. sigh. deep sigh.
Check again in 6 months. Those days at the hospital wear me out...

oooo the Dopplar something to talk to my new hep doc about... thanx I guess thats to see if your blood is flowing in the right direction... I thought that's why they did the ct scan with and without contrast
Does it hurt and whats the process if U don't mind explaining thanks...

Just to chime in again, I've never had a Doppler, but every six months I get an MRI with contrast. They check for cancer, blood flow, etc.

Six 1/2 years, so far so good. No cancer and they always comment on new blood vessel growth, so heading in the right direction.

Next one is probably this month, maybe early September, so will see how things are going.

Great to hear Wilbur - They have never offered me another MRI since diagnosis. I'd like to see if fibrosis is reversing. I"m thinking a biopsy would be too invasive.
