I never thought about it, but since they can have kidney disease, heart disease, and so on, I suppose it just stands to reason they can also have liver disease. My condolences to you, because I know that our pets are members of our family, and we love them.

Our dog is very much a beloved family member - and I would be distraught at the development of ANY serious disease (....which this certainly is).

My dog strongly reacts to my wellness staus. When I was on interferon/ribavarin years ago and had to creep on my belly just to let her outside, she seemed to understand. She asked nothing of me. I fed her & put her out for potty, that was it. Good girl didn't pester for any attention.

You can try Sam-E. They gave that to our doggie who had elevated liver enzymes. It was called Adenosyl and had Sam-E and other vitamins such as NAC in it. His enzymes returned to normal after a month on that. Worth a shot. You can ask the vet about it maybe? You have my sympathies. Our dogs are like children to us.

Thanks everyone!! I am going to try the Sam-E. She has been on her meds for a little over a week now. I have not seen much improvement yet. When I told my vet that I also had liver disease the look on his face was priceless. I think it stunned him for a moment as well. MLTTexas, you made me laugh...I like the "quinky-dink" remark.

Dogs absolutely love beer. Of course they don't know any better and most will drink everything in sight.

Please don't do this to your pets. It is not cute or funny and can cause serious problems.

Being a member of this forum, there is no alcohol in my home, but I've seen friends do it with their dogs. Seems funny at first, but it's very serious.

Bean, just re-reading my post. Didn't come off the way I was expected. Not accusing you of giving your dog alcohol, just stating that alcohol is very bad for dogs (and for us).
