Hello everyone! My fiance has had liver disease for approx. 8 years that we know of. His MELD score the last we checked was 6. My question is, is it safe for him to take Seroquel for his Bipolar disease? His psyche doc prescribed him 300 mg a day however I am concerned about him taking them. I know that the doc should know best but I hesitate to trust some of these quack docs who fail to do thorough enough evaluations on their patients. MY fiance has extreme bouts with insomnia and depression so he really does need the meds however not at the cost of his life. Im concerned and unsure of what to do. Do any of you guys have any advise on how to handle this situation? For the most part he is a healthy 38 year old man with the exception of his diagnosis.
A lot of doctors including family doctors and psychiatrists, are not familiar with what medicines those with Cirrhosis are allowed to take.
You have no idea how many times they have wanted to give me NSAIDS only for me to correct them.
Before he takes anything it is important to get the opinion of your hepatologist.
