My boyfriend has end stage Cirrhosis. We have no clue to start. We 'd like to get him on a Liver Transplant. But it wont happen in the state of Louisiana. Were willin to move anywere for him to get on. Please i suffer from 4 major mental disorders. So im losin my mind. HELP with any information? Thank you.
I live close to Houston, and had a transplant at Methodist Hosp. in Houston. Great liver transplant team there.
If you can be a bit specific as to what type of "help" you're seeking, then I think you'll see more response. The significant aspects of your boyfriend's case are not mentioned - for example:
When/how/where was he diagnosed with end stage cirrhosis?
Is it known what caused his cirrhosis?
Is he presently hospitalized?...and/or under a liver specialist doctor's care?
Is he doing anything to help himself (such as healthy diet, absolutely no alcohol, etc)?
What symptoms of cirrhosis is he presently having?...and/or is anything presently being done to manage them (for example, rx lactulose to manage encephalopathy...which is the brain fog or conusion that so often accompanies cirrhosis)??
Perhaps you can provide us with more information, because if so then I believe you'll get some helpful suggestions from the group!
You state that "it (transplant) wont happen in the state of Louisiana" but you give no clue or indication as to why not. There are some minor differences in transplant listing policies and procedures from state to state, but overall the rules are similar nationwide. And of course some areas of the country have much longer waiting lists than others, since there's a supply-demand component involved. Hopefully you'll be able to post some additional details...
