I know exactly how you feel. One evening I warmed soup up in the microwave and later felt a little sick to my stomache. I thought it was because of the soup. The next morning when I made my oatmeal I found the soup from the evening before.

Sometimes all you can do is laugh

your not alone my friend but you did give me a good laugh !!!:)...... I went to a fast food drive thru and paid for the food and then drove off without getting the food LOL I got all the way home before I realized what I had done...LMBO

I drove for 8 miles with my Emergency Brake on...that was a fun one! I have also put my car keys in the fridge, left important paperwork at home and done many other crazy things when I was in HE High Ammonia. When I am on the medication, things seem to stabilize but even a few days off and I am right back where I started.

LOL! I don't have cirrhosis(my husband does) or HE but I do forgetful stuff like this every day! I think mine is just stress and too much multi-tasking. I constantly lose my keys, misplace papers, always misplace my morning coffee. I am the person pressing the fab in the parking lot because I can NEVER remember where I parked my car!

So just know that you are not alone in forgetting and laughter is GOOD medicine! Thanks for making me smile!

My husband is the one battling Cirrohosis/HE. The other morning he was just staring at me in the doorway of our bedroom. I asked him "what is wrong, are you ok?". He replied "I went to brush my teeth and when I got to the sink....I had my socks in my hand"......we both laughed so hard, it was too funny!!!

I agree sometimes humor/laughter is the only way to get through things sometimes.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Please keep taking your Lactulose It will help your ammonia level stay down. I wish I had a video camera everytime my man has doing something. The last one was when he wanted to make a protein shake in the blender and forgot to put the top on. What a mess . Stay strong we all care !!

I have found that being on anti-rejection meds after my transplant 4 months ago is a very convenient excuse for the dumb things I do. I just say "Blame it on the Prednisone". Truth is, I have always done dumb things. When I was in my 20's, I started brushing my teeth one day with Deep Heating Rub, thinking "This sure is some minty toothpaste".

I was in a straight jacket. Nuff said.
