Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I've been gone awhile. I had a lot of work and just got back from London, where the heat irritated every bone in my body on top of the RSD. Then our flight home didn't take off for 4.5 hours b/c it was the new 787 Dreamliner and it was again showing messages in the cockpit that didn't allow us to take off.
As if 10 hours isn't long enough, I also missed my connection home before we even took off. That meant I would have to stay in Houston overnight, but all in all I was VERY lucky as I just sat for hours in 1st Class watching on demand movies until we took off. Then I sat watching movies as they spoiled me rotten for 10 hours plus, and tried out the new flatbed seats and played games, etc. I hadn't had that much time to myself in AGES.
But the 14 hours plus in that plane was NOT good for my RSD or for my upper and lower back. I didn't quite realize until the next day that my entire body was twisted around. I was laying sideways on my little bed/seat and watching movies and my side was hitting the metal divider. Now, a week later it is a mess. My back and shoulders and RSD all together are driving me crazy!
I really hate to rant and we are ALL in pain. I just am unsure as to how to deal with all these different types of pain. I've had RSD for 17 years so that is pretty well dealt with. But add in a million types of muscle spasms and bone pain, and I don't know what to do.
I see my pain doc today and I think they're upset b/c I HAD to postpone my appointment due to this last minute trip. On the 1 hand, the doctor loves that I still work, but on the other, the lady who changed the appt for me was unusually quiet- just not herself. I had no choice b/c our plane left late and I didn't make my connection & there were no other flights home that late. But I'm worried.
I don't know if I should bring up the extra pain b/c I never, ever complain. Plus they might be upset with me for changing my appt. I'm not sleeping well and that makes it difficult for me to organize my thoughts, plus I have to bring my 5 year old to the appointment which I've only done once in 4 years.
I've never been a problem and I don't want to be one. Yet I have all this back and shoulder pain keeping me awake. Do I take the chance and tell them or wait and see if it goes away?
I don't want other meds or more meds- that isn't it. I just worry that I messed up my body somehow. I walked too much in London w/o my cane, and it's getting more and more difficult for me to move around as I always have.
I'm sorry- this is an exhausting time for a rant. I just have so many emotions and feelings and pain going on at once. To make it worse, I have to go to an early appointment which I'm unused to. So going back to sleep was just too much. I leave in 3 hours. I'm hoping the caffeine in the soda will keep me awake for the drive, and that my son will behave. He's not used to early mornings yet (school is 3 weeks away) and I'm hoping his iPad keeps him quiet at the office.
Oy- I know it could be worse. I'm just suddenly scared of seeing the doctor who has always been kind to me and the PAs who are always so sweet. Lack of sleep and this extra pain is getting to me. If I can get through today okay, I'm guessing that the rest will take care of itself?
I'm SO tired, so jet lagged and so confused. It's crazy. Am I crazy?

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I know sometimes it's scary to get new news of different and new symptoms. But the faster we find out what it is and figure out how it's going to fit into our life, the sooner we get control of the situation back.
As for being concerned about your Dr. being cross with you, you especially have to be honest with your Dr. and let him know exactly whats going on, with as much as you spend time overseas and all over the States, you and your medical team need to be completely up to date and on the same page.
Take care,
Gentle huggggss, Jasmine
I'd be in bed for a week after the "adventure" you just lived. Gimme ice! Heat packs and super elevation! I don't know what pain free feels like at this point. I do so empathize.

More power to you. Don't beat yourself up. Take care of yourself!
Doctors do not have ESP. Write down some of what you put in this post. I forget when I get into a doctor's office 1/2 of what I wanted to say.
The doctor needs to understand your pain and any changes in your pain. It does not always mean more medications. The doctor may do some test and decide on a different technique.
Please let us know how you do. I am always amazed at how much you push through and accomplish. Hang in there.
Healing hugs-RJ
