Hi all! I"m a fellow CPer in need of some advice. ( Obviously cause I posted under "advice"! LOL! )
Here goes: I am currently under a narcotics contract with my PD. I am given 7.5 oxycodone up to 8x a day. I get a refill on the 24th of this month. My concern is on this last Tuesday night I was in the bathroom splitting some of my pills. I keep the majority ( or DID ) of my Rx in the bathroom and use a smaller bottle ( from the pharmacist ) to take with me. I split them because sometimes I only need to take half or on really bad days I take one and a half at a time. ANYway, of course you probably know where I'm going with this, "WHAP!" in goes almost my ENTIRE bottle in the toilet! My fault, should've been paying attention to what I was doing, especially when I have about 70 pills sitting there in a OPEN container! I freak out and decide to flush them. I know I shouldn't have done that for several reasons but I wasn't thinking the time I did it.
The next day I call the pain clinic and explain my nightmarish event to a RN. She tells me MY PD isn't in today but she will talk with his partner and call me back. She calls back and of course I got, " Nope. You will just need to deal with it until the 24th"
Now at this point my pain is even more severe than usual, not to mention the withdrawls I may experience. I may be looking at some REALLY bad days ahead. Although, I do have Tramadol as part of my regemin to treat pain and I've been doubling up on those and so far is keeping WD at bay, but my pain is extreme. My contract says that they could replace those but it would be out of pocket and is only done once a year. I really don't have a problem with this but apparently my PD's partner does.
Should I call a ask to speak to MY PD? Will this effect my relationship with him and mess with my contract? I have absolutely NO problem with being under a contract, I understand why it needs to be done but why are they using it against ME?! I just made a stupid mistake and learned from it! I've never had to deal with a whole months supply of Rx before this so I was TRYING to be smart about it. Now I realize I cannot keep them near H20! LOL!

As I walked home one time with 200 4mg dilaudid I dreaded dropping them or misplacing them. I was constantly checking my bag to make sure they were still there and had not fallen out. What I do now when I get pills home is I split them up into different bottles so that even if I lose one bottle or someone breaks in and steals one I have a few more bottles laying around. Of course you just have to remember where you keep the bottles :-)

For now, I'm hoping my Tramadol will help with WD, if I have problems, I think it best to call and see if he will at least tell me what to do about it. I don't know, I haven't decided yet. I don't know if he even knows what happened as he wasn't there when I called!
