I just need a min to vent. I am so tired (and I know you are all in the same boat) of all of this back pain and the constant surgeries, injections, pills to try to "fix it" and it does not. I had a discectomy in 09 and then a lumbar fusion last year that also required a second surgery a few days later to remove the hardware on the right side. Things got a little better, and I was able to get off the pain meds for a while. But then things got worse and found out that cage moved and I had another surgery almost 3 weeks ago, but nothing is getting better. The pain is worse than it was before the surgery and I am thinking this is a never ending battle and that my life will not get back to normal where I can work and have a life with minimal pain.
The stabbing pains in my leg and the muscle spasms are a new thing since the surgery. Before it was back pain and cramping and pain in my buttocks. I'm so done with this laying on the couch or bed unable to do anything and having to rely on everyone for everything. I am not suppose to do much of anything at all. They are not sure what caused the cage to move 6 months after surgery. It should have been mostly fused and only 5% of surgeries fail like this. I really want to be able to do normal things and not have it affect my financial life and some way to deal with the pain.
I'm on Lortab 10/325 every 4-6 hours and soma twice a day. Everytime I take the Lortab every 4 hours, the pharmacy and insurance company gives me grief for trying to get my next RX filled. Saying it is too soon. And I'm not taking it more than prescribed, so why do they have to make me fill like I'm a drug addict and trying to get more drugs sooner than prescribed?

Friends and family eventually tired of helping and forget that we still need help. Is there some way that you can remind them of how hard it is for you to struggle thru? You are also living for them not just yourself.

You might ask your surgeon about Percocet instead of the Lortab, or just plain Oxycodone without the Apap, it's a little stronger and you might be able to do an every 6 hr and it's a normal post op pain med. Having to take the Lortab every 4 hrs, that's a lot of Apap, and it sounds like it's not working very well.
