I WOULD LIKE ALL OF US TO TAKE A LONG LOOK AT WHAT CHOOSING THE VICTIM STANCE OR CHOOSING TO BE THE PERSON WITH POWER HAS DONE FOR US EACH INDIVIDUALLY. WHAT HAS EACH CHOICE PRODUCED IN OUR LIVES?
MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT I PRODUCE MORE OF WHATEVER I AM FOCUSING UPON.
I AM NOT STATING WE SHOULD IGNORE THE GREAT PAIN AND SUFFERING WE ALL GO THROUGH, NO,NO,NO!!!
MY MEANING IS, BECAUSE OF THIS COMMON PAINFUL TRUTH, WE NEED TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE REAL REASON WE ARE STILL SUFFERING SO NEEDLESSLY.
ISNT IT SIMPLE IGNORANCE? FEAR BASED REACTIONS?
ISNT THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT THESE TRUTHS???
FACT 1) THE DOCTORS ARE AFRAID FOR THEIR VERY LIVES.
FACT2) WE ARE SUFFERING FROM LACK OF ADEQUATE CARE, ADEQUATE MEDICATIONS, AND THE ADEQUATE DOSEES OF THESE MEDICATIONS.
FACT3) THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE OF A POLITICAL "SMOKE AND MIRRORS ACT" TO KEEP THE PUBLIC FROM LOOKING AT THE TRUTH OF THE STATE OF THE ORIGINAL "WAR ON DRUGS", AND HAS SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS OF PATIENTS AND DOCTORS NOT BEING ABLE TO LIVE IN THE TRUTH.
FACT4) THERE IS A GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY TRYING TO RUN A MEDICAL, AND SCIENTIFIC ISSUE.
FACT5) WE ARE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES AND THIS GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY IS SUPPOSE TO BE WORKING FOR US, FOR THE GENERAL WELFARE AND SAFETY OF US, AND IS RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE TO US, THE AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO PAY THIS AGENCIES PAY CHECK AND PUT THEM INTO POWER TO HELP US WITH "ILLEGAL DRUGS" AND THE "ILLEGAL USE" OF SOME OF THE DRUGS WE USE TO MAKE PEOPLE WELL.
NOW... BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH THE GRACE OF FINDING EACH OTHER HERE ON DAILY STRENGTH, I BELIEVE IN MY HEART AND MY SOUL, THAT WE NEED TO BAND TOGETHER UNDER THE BOND WE HAVE FOUND HERE AND FIGURE OUT THE WAY TO LEGALLY CHANGE THESE VERY WRONG BEHAVIORS OF OUR GOVERNMENTAL ENTITIES FROM THE D.E.A., TO THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEYS, AND COURTS THAT WOULD TAKE ON SUCH A FARCE, AND EVEN BOTHER TO LISTEN TO THE LIES BEING TOLD ABOUT THE DOCTORS AND THEIR PATIENTS.
I AM NOT THE MOST EDUCATED PERSON, NOR DO I UNDERSTAND EVEN WHERE TO BEGIN. I JUST KNOW WE DO NOT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THIS KIND OF INJUSTICE IN OUR UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Knowledge is power (as they say) and educating ourselves about the alarming things that the DEA and our government are doing in their ridiculous approach to solving the drug problem in this country is a very good place to start.

I know ours (Australia) is far from perfect and it often depends on the doctor you manage to find but we can shop around and are not restricted by any insurance co as to whom we can see so if we don't like the way Dr A is treating us we can move to another one right through the list in the area or as far away as you want to travel. My dr is 45 minutes from here because he is good for me.
And I think having that choice does help make the drs more likely to spend some time understanding their patient's needs - if they don't they will lose their patients and that means their money.
I hope that Obama will do something about the system there but I do feel that the insurance and drug companies have so much money and so much influence that it would be nigh on impossible. Not to mention the scare tactics that I hear are trotted out when change is mentioned about how bad all the other systems are. Sure they are not perfect but I tell you what I would rather be poor and looking for medical help in Canada, UK, here and other countries like those in Europe that is for sure.
PRN was founded by Siobhan Reynolds and her late husband Sean Greenwood, who died at the ge of 50, when his doctor was jailed and other docs refused care. Their son has the same disorder. The following video is a must see for serious students of the pain crisis.

One step at a time...
I came to PRN and was absolutely amazed at what I saw happening, entirely different approach than any other pain organization. In all honesty and from the bottom of my heart, I know this is the organization we must support in any way we can. Unlike all other pain orgs we are not supported or funded by Big Pharma. Our small family group of Drs. Lawyers and activists work tirelessly for free on a budget of pennies.
We are tackling the pain crisis from a different perspective than anyone else. This is a civil rights issue, and must be fought in the Supreme Court as such. As American citizens we are being discriminated against, treated as second class citizens, enduring torture and untimely deaths. Our current situation is in many ways reflective of the civil rights movement of the 50's-60's.
This is my suggestion only. PRN has done the legal homework, we have the PRO's, we are preparing to bring our/your case against the United States government in the very near future. There is power in numbers, consider joining this already established movement. Instead of starting many new groups, makes sense to me to build on what we have. We the people can make this happen if we come together.

I understand you do have many of the same problems in Canada, most countries across this globe are affected by American drug policy. The pain crisis we face here in the US is a global nightmare. What happens with this war on licit drugs I am sure will have a profound affect on pain care availablility in Canada.
