Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I have had run circles with pain meds I had so many side effects or them not working, and I finally went on suboxone for pain it is the best med ever for me it works great to the point I forget to take dosages and end up with left over I never did that on opiates. Sometimes you just got to change up what you are taking I am not saying to take suboxone but I am saying maybe trying something different altogether might do the trick for you.
you may want to consider methadone or suboxone. or Fentanyl.
i'm increasing my methadone dose slowly if that doesn't work i may try suboxone especially after reading what manny wrote.
hugs.
all i have ever heard from fent. patch users is that they only last 48 hours and then, if your doc complies to write the script for 1 per 2 days then you get left with that extra day on your insurance.
being uninsured, i have had to shop every pharm with ms er and ms ir. recently taking a new generic of ms er i have found that i am getting better relief. my previous pills were coated in a wax matrix while these are full of wax throughout. they are cheaper, they are not injectable in any way- that is why these new formulations are so expensive anyway. losers... /rant.
i was on ms er 30 in a purple pill with a huge coating for almost a year now. i am now taking a green colored generic that seems to have no coating, but addict protection through and through and i am getting more relief with them taking exactly as directed than before. also- i am getting longer relief (maybe wax throughout causes longer breakdown?)
i mentioned waking up in withdrawal every day to pm 2 days ago and was told that it was due to the new ms er manufacture. i should get 8 hours, but do not. i had no idea. but, i have noticed two times in as many days that i am not scrambling for my 4 times a day 15mg Ir's like i was. all this for 20 $ cheaper at a different pharm chain.
this has taught me that there is definitely a difference between generics. i wouldn't go back to the "better loved" generic at all, if i can help it.
try finding out about the manufacturers and the actual products. ms er is made by a few companies as a generic and i can now attest that they are totally different. i have not woken up in withdrawal since this switch.
everyone is different and morphine is pretty benign compared to the dizzy/ nausea/ far out symptoms of synthetic narcotics. you may not feel that fuzzy feeling, but mine work. they have always worked, but the amount of time that they worked was problematic. i do not know who makes the green tablets that i currently take, but they last longer, control pain better and cost 20$ less uninsured.
perhaps a pharm switch, with your doc's knowledge (of course) may lead you to better relief. i never expected a discount to do me any good- but hey... my doc was aware of the problem, and my need to switch outlets and i am pleased with the result.
often you may be offered to switch to the patch. there are so many problems with all of the drugs delivered in this manner that i cannot help but, side with tablets for that reason and of course for cost. try a new generic, i'm crapping you negative when i say, it's a different world.
It sounds like you might be having some symptoms of withdrawal. The titration is not exact.
I think you need to stop the short acting for at least 6 weeks to give the long acting time to actually work and build up in your system.
With both I had such severe headaches it was not worth it. You can try the 45mg which would include one 30mg & one 15mg. See if you respond better to an in between dose. With every LA Ive been on Ive needed a breakthru med.
Now if the percocet is helping then you may want to consider Oxycodone as you can get the higher dose as it does not contain Tylenol, still its only short acting.
Because I reacted so well to the percocet my pharmacist suggested Oxycontin as a LA medication, I had a couple months to find the right dosage for my pain. Worked wonderful.
Cut back on the breakthrus although I still needed them I had the best relief out of all the medications.
I lost it when my insurance changed & would not cover any LA but the cheapest form of Morphine.
Everyone reacts different to each medication. Some swear by Morphine, some the patch, some Oxy & so on....
My PM informed my husband & I he had to have his patients on Long acting as this is part of the changes being made in medical care with Narcotic therapy. So your better off to find one that will work. Its rare to hear of patients not needing a break thru as most meds do not last as long as they claim.
Ive also discovered the hard why that generics are not created equal.
I was just diagnosed with RA & this Rhuemy does not like narcotics & thus far is not considering any other conditions that is causing my pain.
Doctors can be so tough to deal with. What a stupid comment to make by that doctor. Don't deal with RA because its to complicated? That would set off red flags with me.
Good luck & God bless, Sammy
I have heard the "too old" comment also.
