helloooo all
This is an update on me and my dental issues and also my train of thought..Its 8 weeks since I had oral surgery and my upper jaw cyst removed..I've been super frustrated at my slow recovery and lingering pain..The pain that was bothering me the most and also my original pain was on the left side of my nose which Ive been told is a nerve that runs thru there..
so I ended up at an oral surgeon and had my front tooth removed and the cyst removed above this tooth and was under my nose and sinuses..the pain continued and the pain running up the side of my nose continued ..I tried to be patient and recover..
well a week ago the pain running up the left side flipped over to the right side of my nostril .same exact pain and wow intense..so im like enough is enough I go into the oral surgeon today post op 8 weeks now with this pain..He cant see an obvious infection in x-ray or upon looking but thinks the adjacent tooth to the extracted tooth might be now getting infected.I'm like whaaa and whyyyy. He wants to wait on it as hes not seeing it but cant exlain the pain.
So i go home in a ton of pain .Really upset and crying and heating up my rice pad to put on my side of nose as its really all that helps.Im thinking....
maybe this is not a dental problem? mabe the answer is not to keep chopping out my teeth..I think I should ask my primary to refer me to a dr that treats and diagnosis nerve pain disorders and or maybe an ent that should take a closer look at my sinuses..Im just really in a ton of pain and yeah im reading online like a scientist to try and help myself because I dont know what else to do..I cant just sit here crying in pain.
any ideas? thoughts? what could be causing my pain running u the side of my nose? and changing sides after a year on one side..Im lost but i need to figure this out thank u please any ideas

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Hope the dog days of summer aren't getting you down!

When I've had root canals or a tooth pulled, I see an endodontist. Is that who you saw?
Some other possibilities - did you take the full course of antibiotics prescribed afterward? That should have kept any more infections from happening.
Also, right after the procedure, but maybe now it might help you, put an ice pack on the part that hurts. Through the outside of your face, I mean., You can use any frozen thing in the freezer, or make a little bag out of water in a ziploc bag that you freeze. Ice really dulls pain, and so maybe worth a try?
So sorry you are in pain. I hope you feel better soon.
Good luck!
In alot of pain at the moment and trying to distract myself..Usually a heating rice pad out of the microwave and rest will lower the pain some but not today!
Maybe i should try ice..
Ive been reading about peoples experiences with trigeminal neuralgia on a forum and wow similar stores.I think I'm on to something..
There might be a support group here for that but its often slow groups here on ds unfortunately, but Ill try posting and see if someone reads it
Thank you so so much for your support!
Girlin cali I saw an endodontist and then an oral surgeon..The endodontist said the tooth was too calcified due to falling on it as a kid It was a dead tooth and had a cyst above the root because it was dead The oral surgeon thought my pain must be coming from the cyst, but its been 2 months since he took it out and the pain is worse..Now I'm missing my front tooth that was a good front tooth..I regret that decision..i mean yes the nerve in it had died nut there was no decay to the tooth.
Sorry you had to go to the dentist..how did it go?
Yvette your right a second opion is always a good idea..And I do have chronic sinus headaches and headaches in general most days so that alone would warrent a visit to both an ent and a neurologist..Ive hesitiating to see the ent because Ive had sinus surgery in the past and it did not help..sometimes I feel these specialists are too quick to suggest surgeries..Im really not wanting another surgery.
My dentist appt was because an old crown I had, chipped, and it really hurts to eat anything that isn't super soft. They finally squeezed me in to see me, but all they did was take a couple X-rays, took a 2 second look in my mouth, and said to come back in a couple weeks after they submit to my insurance. Um, what?? I told them I CAN'T EAT, and said to them - do I wait 2 weeks to eat again? So, yeah, I feel you on the frustration with dentists. Thank you for asking.
Yes, try the ice! It helps dull all kinds of pains in the body, but especially helpful with dental pain. And it's a drug free, safe thing to try. My endodontist would give me an ice pack (with his company logo on it, of course), after my root canals or when he pulled my tooth, on my way out of the appointment.
Sorry you are going through this. Being in pain is no fun. Keep looking for answers. I hope you feel better real soon! Hugs.
I've had a lot of dental work, too. I told you how my husband had the cyst under his bottom front teeth. You don't want to fool around at this point. You've given it enough time. Please keep us updated. I think of you and keep hoping it is better.
Girlincali I understand the frustration of waiting for approval from the insurance company..I had to do that this past year ,waiting for approval for a root canal on the tooth that was ultimately extracted...It was denied the first 2 times and approved the third time But they knew i was in pain and it did not seem to faze anyone!!..It seems that the medical profession just is numb to complaints of pain..Itss like all I hear is "try ibuprofen" when they know I cant take it because of my stomach..Or "try heat" which does help a little..but theres no caring..At least I'm not seeing it..Its as if they've become immune to compassion..Or hardened. maybe they just know they cant do much..
I hope you can get some soft foods down..Ive been eating the soft noodle and yougurt diet for so so long now..plus side ive lost some weight with the dental issues that I needed to lose.
urbang
yes i think I need to see an ent for a second opinion..I'm so tired of the pain!
Ive had frozen shoulder on both of my shoulders..thats so painful..It sounds like you have many health issues going on just like me too.
I think i have undiagnosed conditions probably auto immune.Ive only had the hashimotos actually diagnosed Some others were suggested but was never able to get follow up diagnosis. Ugh I need to see my cardiologist too..all these drs are feeling like a full time job!!
