I had hoped my tooth wouldn't start aching. I lost a part of a filling in two teeth and now the pain has started up.
I don't think I have good dental insurance and can't add it to my insurance till open season then I'd have better coverage starting Jan 2011.
I might not be able to last that long though. I suppose instead of refilling the tooth, I could just have it pulled. I've had to do that more than once. I refuse to have a root canal and carry a dead tooth in my mouth. Dead teeth are a breeding ground for all kinds of bacteria that can get into your blood and heart. Bad for the immune system too.
Just cold is setting it off at the moment.

I know that there are some products available to provide a temporary filling and one that I had heard gave good results was Dentemp O.S. It's designed to only work for a few weeks, but I wonder if you could keep putting it in so that you could wait for open enrollment? It costs less than about $5 and might be worth the try, since it does take away the pain. Both these fillings were put in by dental students, they didn't last more than 4 years. Some of my old fillings I had for over 30 years. Thought I had gotten caught up at OSU's dental school but looks like I'll have a trip or two to make things right.
I'll have to find the nearest university with a dental school and see how soon they could see me and what the cost would be.

I have to laugh at the idea of removing gum disease. I wish. My dentist tells me I'll perpetually need cleanings. Also, an electric toothbrush and co-enzyme Q10 help with gum disease, I've found. By the way, LiveByFaith, I think your gum disease probably has the same main cause as mine, a connective tissue disorder.
