Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I know exactly how you feel...and yes I've tried. Didn't die but instead, ended up with heart muscle damage. Stupid.
But like you, I live for those who can't live without me.....3 feral cats who won't go to anyone but me. I have to stay alive for them or they will surely be put down.
So I cry in pain and throw up from pain and can't sleep from pain. I'm trying methadone now but it's no better than the others but I can no longer use morphine or Fentanyl due to Opiate Pain Syndrome.
It's okay to cry....I get pretty good pain relief from that......but throwing up does nothing pain wise...a useless reaction to pain if there was one! Lack of sleep just makes everything worse. So I'm trying to make myself sleep with whatever meds I can. If I can't fix the pain, maybe I can fix the other symptoms that go along with it. And I'm using Zofran for the vomiting....that helps too. And then I use sad movies to help the tears come.
I guess when the pain meds stop helping, the only thing we can do is try to alter the other symptoms that go with it and for me it's those 3 that make me the most miserable. Lowers the "misery number" by a couple of numbers.
Is there anything that might help you be a tiny bit less miserable? I do hug/pet my cats and they seem to know when I'm at my worse and insist on sleeping with me...do your pups do that too? Can they curl up with you and try to ease the pain a tiny bit? When I'd get really bad joint pain I'd tell everyone my script was to apply a cat to said joint PRN. I imagine that crawling into bed with a pup on your most painful areas would be a help too......depending on the weight of the pup! My 16 pound cat is only used on hands/wrists.......too heavy for anywhere else.
But I'm really sorry there are so many of us.
gentle hugs................Jen

Once I know whether or not I have Relapsing Polychondritis then I'll really be able to get some serious pain control as that is one bad ass disease to have and I'll need whatever I can get.
The waiting game begins again.
