Today sucks

Apparently I have used this title before.

I have a long day ahead of me. Hubby is sick - and whinny. I understand not feeling well, but somewhere along the way I have lost sympathy for being ill or pain. I try not to, but I just don't have the energy. If he is down, then I have to be off pain killers so I can do things.

Today that means drive myself an hour each way to the VA hospital for a useless pain management appointment. Hubby wants me to reschedule it - but the VA gets grumpy when you call a few hours before an apt to cancel and I might not get another appointment.

This means a day of agony... Just being in the car for 10 minutes hurts. An hour without pain killers is enough to make me cry thinking about it. Then there is the VA cardio day... the area of the hospital I have to go to is on the far side from the parking lot.

Somehow I then have to drive home. I have no idea how to make this work.

I also drove almost an hour to my ortho today for xrays.. My PM wants to see if there is anything wrong .. Eye roll

Sorry you're having a particularly rough one.

I SO relate losing sympathy. I've gotten good at keeping a neutral face when someone is acting like a temporary minor ache/pain/illness is unbearable.

Sorry that you are having a rough day. What I love and I am being sarcastic is when I say something hurts my dh will usually say that he does too. I guess it's a me too syndrome. It almost makes me laugh except usually I am in too much pain to laugh. Again I feel for you sweetie. Drive carefully.

What is it with men and their inability to act like a grownup when they get ill? My babies weren't as whiny, petulant and demanding as my ex used to be when he had as little as a simple cold.

I hope your appointment okay and your back home safely, resting. Definitely sounds like an "order a pizza" night.

One of these days if you feel like it, could you PM me and let your know how you got Misha, what program you used, etc. Only if you want to or feel like it.

I never acted like a baby when I was sock. I simply didn't have that luxury. I remember one time in 2007 when I got sick in Rochelle, Illinois after eating some bad food one night. I had to drive myself over 60 miles to the Motel 6 while throwing up in a bucket. I was holed up in that room for three days with nothing more than Nyquil and Sprite. I had no one to call, no one to rely on but myself out there on the open road. I was sick for three days and I survived all by myself. I used to work sick, dog tired, whatever else. I guess some men are wussies. I have become a wuss lately though because of my chronic pain, but in a former life I was a rugged type of guy! Also, if I had someone to look after, I would take more pain meds and force myself to help them. I can't do a lot, but I can drive people around, cook meals for them, and do some other stuff if push comes to shove. I hope you make it through your day Yadlim and I hope your hubby feels better soon! Hugs!

No one else can drive you? And don't you know by now when men are sick,...no one knows what it is like-they are dying from the leasy germ :)

Thanks for all the support... but looking closely at the situation, I was a lot more whinny than he was. I was scared because I was afraid to drive and did not want him to drive and make himself worse - the last thing we need is for him to wind up in the hospital.

He kissed me on the head, told me I was nuts, and drove me.

Yeah.... I love my hubby. As we call it, insanity is just a slight lean for either of us so at least one of us often winds up there. the other tries to be the reality check of "um, yo, back this way!!"

He is feeling better today. We got the horse wagon unburied. A guy is supposed to be showing up to take it away in about an hour and a half. Slowly but surely, areas of the house, property, and garage are becoming empty.

One step at a time. Going to rest for about 20 minutes than do a few more small things.
