Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Back in Jan I am pretty darn sure that I tore the tendon in the front of my right shoulder. As my Dr won't see me, my follow up to see if PT worked is in Jan, 2015. That is SO helpful.
Since PT did NOT work, I have been doing a couple things on my own... I have been learning to use my left hand/arm for 90% of what I need to do and I have been SLOWLY working on stretching my right arm to get back as much use as possible. I had gotten to the point that though I have NO strength in that arm, I could at least move it about 50% of its normal range of motion.
Then stupidity hit me two days ago. The kitchen trash was full, and smelled. I lifted the bag out of the can and went to carry it out to the outside can... yup, with my right arm. About ten feet into this adventure I could feel a tearing sensation in the front of my shoulder as pain exploded down my arm. Crap. I went back to using my left arm and let the right rest.
Yesterday, I got even stupider. Concerned that the ball socket was out of place, which has been happening more and more often lately, I asked my daughter to slowly stretch my arm. With slow deliberate movements, she took my arm through a range of motion that was about 5% more than I have on my own... accompanied by another burst of pain that left me screaming for several minutes.
Nothing we tried yesterday eased the pain - or corresponding guilt feeling for my poor daughter. We iced my shoulder. We applied heat. With nothing left to do, hubby put an Icy Hot patch on it and bound it tight to my chest so I could not move any part of my arm. He then made me take my full dose of pain meds and do nothing but watch TV and SIT STILL all day.
When we went to bed, he spent an hour massaging out the knots in my back, shoulder, and arm from the enforced immobilization. That, and some Advil PM added to my normal pain meds let me sleep - at least for about six hours.
This morning I can at least type again. I can't move my arm without assistance from the other arm. My back and shoulder are competing for what hurts worse. At least there is no bulge in the front of my shoulder that would be the ball joint out of place. It must have gone back into socket at some point.
Today, hubby and daughter pick up my SUV from the shop. Tomorrow I see the PM docs and my shoulder is one of the things I am going to ask them to address. As much as I HATE surgery, I need an MRI to make sure that it can heal with surgery. IF not, we need to do the darn surgery while it will still do any good.
This is not really my week

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I have to sleep laying on my shoulder, so that the joint is pressed together. Walking means that I have to keep my arm pressed against my side or I can feel my joint slip out of place - which is a new definition of pain.
There is something more going on there than the tendinitis I am current diagnosed with...
Luckily, the VA "can", if it wants to, move faster than Medicaid.
sigh - I don't want to hurt anymore

Actually, I just looked it up... as much as I like another possibility, the pain is quite localized in a 1/2 inch area in my shoulder... Doing a quick web search, my guess is that I have torn the glenohumeral ligaments. The website even stated that a tear in the front of these causes the joint to dislocate - which mine has done about six times this year.
Gentle hugggss
You should have an X-Ray. I hope it's fixable.
Gentle hugs dear.
I had x-rays back in Jan when I first injured my shoulder. The ER doc was sure it was a rotator cuff - but my GP and I 'fail to communicate' as hubby says.

I'm going to keep you in my prayers tonight Yadlim. You really need a break from all of these afflictions. I was thinking the other night that if I was given the opportunity to be pain free, I would pass it on to someone who has been in pain longer than I have been in pain, because they deserve it more. I was encouraged when I read about a woman who was crippled up and had a miraculous healing. I don't know if any of you guys believe in that sort of thing. I'm kind of on the fence myself. I just hope that some day we can all be whole again. Hugs to you Yadlim.
I tend to look at the great support system I have and wish I could give just a bit of that to those who don't have one!!!
Hugs and hope, my friend, hugs and hope!
