Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I'm much better than I used to be (pain is a great convincer) but I continue to be a work in progress.
i dread the 2 bus ride i have to take today. i've planned by trip for easiest no witing b/c there aren't seats.
making excuses right now not to do it. i'm drained and sad and i may just skip it despite no anxiety meds.
i used to be into everything, but now church when i can or MD or groceries are my outings, nothing fun or rarely, b/c i've become so afraid of being out in public and just breaking down. i did stop at a bar/restaurant to get good food after the appt and they've seen me go into a flare and gotten me into a cab. just sitting straight up waiting for take out can will it b/c no one delivers here and it can hit at any moment.
i push myself to walk and interact with people when i can, but it's so hard to force myself. my computer is sgoing nuts and this has takene too longs.
short answer YES
I feel so isolated and out of touch with the "real" world. I'm grateful that my son tells me about his little adventures- I live vicariously through him.
And I'm soooo guilty of overdoing when I feel good. It usually comes to bite me in the ass.
But so far, I haven't had a major flare since Thursday's activities. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
You are definitely NOT alone, jc!

after such extreme pain and now getting it kind of under control, i want to do things, but i am in fear of setting off the pain again.
so yes, i can understand and relate to you!
i want to go to a "pulmonary rehab" class that others on the COPD board say is so wonderful, but at the same time i am scared to death of setting my pain in motion again.
fear of pain is starting to hold me back.
so i haven't isolated YET, but i can see where i can start isolating...any advice on how NOT to go there???
