Not sure exactly what you are talking about, is this something that they have put in a transdermal patch or something that you dissolve under your tongue? Very interested in how this works and how you are doing on it. Please keep me updated, Kim.

Does the Suboxone work for pain? I am so confused when this is talked about...

I know there are a few her that take it, its a med to get off of prescription meds that is helping with pain, does that make sense?!lol.

I have heard of it being used by pain form a few other people they all say it works well but it's not cheap so you are going to need good insurance coverage before you get on it. I have also heard a few stories where someone was on it for awhile, enough time to get them off of there opoids and as soon as they were off there opoids the doc stopped giving them suboxone and acted like they were an additiced so just make sure to what ever cliniic you go to understands that you are there for pain releife and that you are not an additic

so this meds for addict to get of pain meds??? b/c i called this one dr office and they ask me if i was interst in this program and they called it that and i said well what that she said nevere mind.... tell you how stupid i am, but i not inot these drugs, just the one for my pain.....

Weird...everything you read says it is for opiod addiction....but then methadone was used and is used for heroin addicts but works on some pain.

Suboxone is what I am using for pain ... I heard about it and jumped on board because of all the positive responses about it for pain. They originally used it for substance abuse and still use it for that... but realized they could use it for pain -very successfully. I felt that the risk of looking like an addict...because of the stigma about what they generally use it for ... would be worth it... IF... it works as well as they say it does. I have had PAIN -- long enough to be passed the point of worrying too much about what people think. If it works then great - who cares! Look at me weird all ya want! Gotta do what I gotta do.
Anyway, this has worked very well for me...of course everyone has good and bad days, but more often that not, its really great for my pain.
Due to the"wonderful" pharmaceutical industry...and BTW they are NOT honest about this ... they have decided to come out with a NEW AND BETTER formulation because... yes ... the patent has now run out and since the generic version will be available - they just so happen to decide, they need to talk down the OLD formulation ( which BTW is STILL their own drug in PILL form-of course) due to the bazillion dollars they stand to lose, now that generics will be available. Wow sorry for the tangent.

So the "films" are the same as the tabs (also to be put under the tongue) but looks like a little strip of paper ( kinda like a Listerine strip) which is very very thin. Its made to dissolve fast- much faster than the tabs- (which is true) so that alone makes it much easier to deal with...also true. Thing is...like I told my doc...I dont care about how easy or that it tastes better ( it doesnt) because that is nothing compared to being in pain. Who cares- give me something that works...

So I was wondering if anyone else is on these yet ( I bet if you are taking suboxone - your doc will try and switch you over) but because they are SO new ( I think since only about the 10th of OCT) I expect to wait awhile for any comments. No prob... I thought I would give it a try. My advice to give anyone that doesnt want to try these would be...if you are pleased with the tabs... tell the Doc ...NO. You will stay with what you are doing.

And you are right LBF... they are NOT cheap. I looked at the total... could NOT believe the price! Please look into your insurance or compare prices at various pharmacies before you go ahead with it...no surprises.

According to my insurance plan it is only authorized for addiction and recovery--from the booklet--was not about to call my insurance and DRUG SHOP, as THAT FLAGS you right there before even going to a Dr. and asking about trying anything new-FYI. When I *used* to use the VA, they tried Methadone for pain on me as well firstly and I might have well have been taking sweet tarts, other than it made my gut all messed up and calves and feet swelled-up--but it works for some people. Good luck getting ANY insurance co. to use this drug 'off-lable'!

Did u say it helped pain? chronic pain? well i want 2 know what's up w/that i have been on the fentanyl patch 100mcg & oxycodone and just changed from neurontin 2 topamax,ambien and paxil just 2 name my pain meds.this is so much addictive.my patch came off my acident i wasn't aware and ent into fll detox.and was very close 2 death.couldn't keep any pills don due 2 the vomiting i should of went 2 the hospital.i was alone ,scared but not thinking straight,totally dehydrated myself it took weeks 2 get my system back in order.i never went 2 hospital i did tell dr after the fact he assured me GOD was w/me.ihave got 2get off this very serious narcotic.i thought if we'd have a emergency like a earthquake where it's clear2 b prepared.but some of us won't have the meds we need,likeme and my situation wouldn't be considered a priority compared 2 the things that an e.r. room would endure under such conditions.i understand that clearly.so my chances of dying have increased andw/all the things that could happen like phones down etc who's going 2 verify thru my dr. that i need this class 2 drug or my breathing could change and then stop.so the dr.mentioned methadone i like u didn't ant 2 hear it 4 the same reason the stigma attached. gotta do what i gotta do.so if this helps detox from the opiads and works on the pain it's something that i'm going 2 speak 2 my dr.& pharmarcy about.i've been on opiads 4 approx 16yrs,and i'm tired.i would have checked out already but i have a small family of rescue animals that think i'm the greatest thing since the napkin.i also told GOD i'd never attempt 2 take my life again.so please i appreciate any help i get just 2 want 2 stay here another day.thx 4 listening i didn't realize how overwhelmed i am about losing all control in my life i just want a lil joy in my life b-4 its over. and i always thought i'd rather die 4 a cause and not because.and the because would be because most don't understand pain unless they live it,and chronic pain doesn't seem 2 set well w/diagnosis like r.s.d.fm,ddd,and a few others.but folk understand cancer,aids,leuk..well i dont get it either,but i say if they dont c blood they don't get it.so my fellow pain suffers i pray 4 ur comfort times b as many as blessing that bestow u,4 all that u endure.if no one else does i do understand your daily struggle...thx all of u 4 being here 4 me even if u'r not i feel safe expressing my thoughts 2 u...

I take suboxone for pain, it is low dose and I guess it is the old kind because it is a pill form. I didnt read through all the other comments so I dont know if you explained this but what is films and the new and improved kind. I had alot of side effects from regular pain meds and so the doctor decided to give this a shot since I was going to be going off the pain meds anyways and this way I would not have any withdrawals which I did not it was weird it was like I went right back to where I was before pain meds

I was very even keel and no anxiety or anything. The suboxone for me does not really take away all the pain but either did pain pills since I had to take a low dose but it is going ok and been actually forgetting to take them sometimes because it is that type of med to wear it does not wear off and you feel you need more.

ok I read through comments, and yes it is used for pain and like you I dont care what it originally was used for as long as it serves my purpose and it does. I didnt get flagged or anything and it is expensive that is the only draw back but well worth it in my opinion because I was having a hard time being on pain pills for so long they really didnt work and giving me a higher dosage was increasing my side effects and that was worst then pain.

Since it is orginally used for people to kick the pills, it was effective in the fact after i Was off pain pills for 24 hours I took a half of pill and 20 minutes later didnt feel not one bit of withdrawal and never thought of taking another pain pill again.

They are better then the vicodens I was taking for sure in the respect I do not have to take one every 6 hours, like I said I take one pill and I am done for the day and sometimes It is mid afternoon the next day before I remember I forgot to take my daily morning pill

If anyone is interested of getting a different type of pain relief they should look into it.I know for me when I was on the vicodens I would have to take one every 6 hours but really needed one after 4 and then had to sit there for 2 hours in pain and this I dont so I like that.

I was one a long acting pain med but that gave me constipation something awful and it made me have depression so I have took to many different kinds of pain meds looking for the right one and now I think i did, dont ever want to go back and you can stay on them for as long as you want to

No I think you misunderstood me, I was saying to call pharmacies(for different prices-IF you are paying for your OWN meds) not call your insurance co ... you wouldnt be "buying" anything... from your insurance company. They wouldnt understand why you would be calling THEM to ask about how much medications cost, when you should be inquiring pharmacies about that kind of information. If you HAVE to find the best price (if unfortunately, you have to pay for your own meds - like ALOT of people) because you and your DOC have decided on this as part of your treatment plan...that is NOT called... "DRUG SHOPPING" as you say. A patient has every right to find the best price for a medication like any other product they may buy. There IS something called "Doctor Shopping" and that is something ENTIRELY different. That is going around to different doctors to get as many prescriptions as possible... to obtain the most "Narcotic" medication that one possibly can... without the doctors and pharmacies being aware of this.... that will get you whats called... "RED FLAGGED."

Hi all, I'm too on Suboxone Film take 16 mg daily for chronic pain and yes I was opiate dependent. I like lady after 20 mins of taking the pill I did not desire to take another oxy again. I've been on Suboxone going on 2 months now and it subsided my back pain tremendously and the great thing about it is that I have a ton of energy and able to be productive at work and focus. Physically I feel better now than when I was diagnosed with DDD 5 years ago. I cant say enough good things about Suboxone. I too have some "bad days" but even those have diminshed greatly since I've started this med. I would definitely recommend this medication for anyone that has drug dependence and is not working and also in chronic pain. It may not work for some but I am grateful that it works for me.

I take suboxone for pain , and it is going good the best med I have taken in 2 years. What I like about it is there is no tolerance to it. In fact it is opposite you want to take less because it is expensive and you do forget about your schedule to take it. One time I was supposed to take it at 5pm and didnt notice till midnight I forgot. Sure I am in some pain but I was still in pain with the vicodens and you know that time like the 3 hour after taking a vicoden and it wears out and you have to wait till you can take another one. I hated that and I always was in more pain then because of the pill wearing off.

Not no more very even keel med last all day. I take one pill a day I break it in half and take half in am and then half in PM because if I take all at once my stomach gets alittle upset nothing big but it is better for me to split up.

If you want to try something new I would try it but remember you can not take any opiates on it they will not work, the original use of these med was for people to get off of pills without withdrawal and not to crave them. I didnt have withdrawal and I have a whole bottle of vics for 2 years never even thought about them.

It is a med that has half opiates and half something else dont know but it works
