I vcan't see your profile. Is this your first surgery? What pain meds are you on? They may not be working properly. I was drugged up and still in horrible pain on morphine - nurses told me it was impossible to still feel pain when taking the high dose I was on. NO TRUE. Hubby snuck in some tyl w codiene and I was painfree and no longer druggy in the head.

You may need a different pain med - stronger is not always better

I also had pain at the insertion site. Doc said it would be painful until my body encased it in scar tissue. He was right. It took a couple of weeks, but the pain did go away. I'm 2 years out, and so glad I got my scs. It gave me back my smile. I hope your pain subsides quickly.

Yikes! I really hate seeing this the day before I call to set up my surgery for an SCS.
Be sure to look at your incision (or rather, have someone look at it for you). Look to see if there's redness, warmth or any discharge. You can get an infection at the site and you may need to be seen about it.

Otherwise, I'm sorry to hear about the pain involved. I was hoping to help my pain, not get another site of pain.

Not my first surgery, like..4th or something haha. I am on Norco, basically Vicodin, less Tylenol, but stronger. Today is a lot better so far.. last night was hell..

I figure my body is not happy about having something shoved in there that does not belong there, like Keeska said.. I am so glad I got it, just gotta get through this part of it!!!

Don't be too nervous! It's just temporary pain! I cannot take off the bandages till tomorrow, but I am pretty sure I don't have an infection. I have no fever, nothing significant. Just pain.

Paradox-- Your body will continue to adapt to the object you have in there. Glad to hear your incision isn't hurting too bad. Just keep it clean and you should be fine. You scared njsandym!! LOL

njsandym-- nothing to be nervous about. This surgery is a cake walk. The pain in the incision is using tolerable, at least it was for me. It's better to have the stimulator than to not have it. I had mine removed and I miss it. Long story for another time.

i think you can expect post op pain after any operation. if the stim is working at all, give it a chance.

I forgot to mention one thing that helped...I got a "donut" pillow to place behind me when sitting (with the insertion site in the middle). Works sort of like those bunion or corn cushions with the hole in the middle. Don't need it any more, but it was a Godsend.

Didn't mean to scare anyone!! The pain was just so bad Saturday night, ten million times better now. :)

I have just been laying on my right side and stomach, has been working well.
