Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I have noticed lately that I can't really feel heat. For example if I go to take a shower i don't feel the hot water I just got done doing dishes for my mom and I had the hot water all the on and still nothing. This is freaking me out I was wondering if anyone had this problem and can ease my mind about this. Hopefully I am just over reacting to nothing but i just need some reassurance or something.
Hugs,
Cherry
Check with your doctor just to be certain. Also I would start writing down what you notice. If it's all the time or just certain times of day or parts of your body.
Hopefully it is just something simple that will go away or can be explained away.

PS glad the posting is working for you
My mom said she never had a problem and then when i went to do dishes today i realized that there was a problem because I could the steam from the water so I knew that it had to be warmer than what I was feeling. But I am hoping its something that will past but if not i will talk to my rheumy next Monday and see where we go from there.
Do you mind saying what your diagnosis is?Do you have a nerve disorder like RSD? Not all people are the same but since I got RSD I notice I feel temps differently. For instance I was starting a shower for my nieces after swimming. They had been fine in the pool water but I felt freezing! I started the shower and niece #1 called out for me to come help b/c it was too cold. To ME it felt perfect, but she said it was too cold. I finally showed her how to work the faucet.
Later we were giving our little ones a bath together. My cousin ran the water and I came in to take a cute picture. My son needed to be washed up and I thought the water again was too hot. My son didn't- he was happier than he'd ever been in a bath. I'd been making it too cold since he was born!
But if we're taking air, I can't STAND to be hot. Luckily my hubby was the same way and we have kept our homes at about 62 degrees since then, summer or winter. As bad as my RSD gets in cold weather, I STILL like the room I sleep in to be icy. I'll crack a window in the middle of a MI winter.
I also get flushed and hot just from doing light housework like vacuuming. So while you might not have RSD, I wonder if this has to do with your diagnosis or your meds. I have HEARD that many patients who take morphine feel hot much of the time. Not sure if it's true of others, but definitely for me. And as mine is long-acting, I rarely get a break. Not that I'm complaining as pain control is the #1 priority!
Be sure to tell your doctor all your symptoms, and you might find that while you have to be careful, it may not be anything serious. Good Luck to you!
