This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Well, it's October, and that means my DH leaves for his annual convention. I used to go to every one, especially as they're in Vegas, but for the past 3 years I've stayed home. Our son is 3 and Vegas is NOT the place for kids. (Especially with asthma.) But I'm not just upset at missing out on fun, I'm worried about taking 100% responsibility for my son.
That might sound awful to some, but for me it's reality. I have RSD of the left foot/leg for 15 years. I was just diagnosed with bursitis and a pinched nerve and am supposed to be in PT. But without anyone to watch my son, we can't do it till next week.
To top it all off, I had arranged for our babysitter to take some hours every day so I could rest my foot. 3 year old boys don't stay put long! But the sitter can only do tomorrow (I have my CP doc appt so no rest for me) and can't do weds or Friday as she was supposed to.
I ADORE my child. I just worry that the 2 of us will go nuts, LOL! He's got a routine where he's with me in the morning and early afternoon, then with my DH in the evening. I need sleep to keep myself going, and my son isn't the best sleeper. He's an amazing child and I HATE that I'm dreading this so much. He's my son!
We got through it last year and the year before, etc., and we'll do it again. But I AM worried. He's so physical and Daddy takes him to the park everyday. I've arranged a play date and he has 3 hours of preschool tomorrow and Wednesday. I just hope that's enough interaction for him. For the 1st time EVER, I wonder if I'm a bad mom. I have a sinking feeling in my stomach when I think of an entire week of trying to keep him occupied. The thing is, I love this kid more than life itself. We have a GREAT relationship! My DH thinks I'm NUTS!
And I'm not being fair. DH has to watch Jaden (with a sitter during the day while he's at work) for almost a week every month while I travel for work. I JUST got back from Seattle a week ago and leave for NY in 2 & a half weeks. THAT trip will be a long one, too. DH hasn't complained and I'm already worried! What does that make me?
I see my CP doc tomorrow, maybe he'll tell me there's been a cure for RSD. My son would be thrilled to wrestle with Mommy the way he can with Daddy. I've planned activities, made sure I'm stocked full of groceries, a few treats and his favorite movies and cartoons. We have color books, sticker books and legos. Maybe it won't be so bad.
Thanks for letting me vent- it's been a rough week!

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I hope all goes well....are relatives available to help out some? it did not seem like it....but worth asking....hugs bill
My two are 28 and 32 now.
Enjoy your time with Jaden.
Gentle hugs.
I've been disabled since shortly after my son was born so I know exactly how you feel. When he was a baby, my husband worked nights (7p -7a) and I practically had to manage with Conor by myself and it was so difficult. I don't know if I could have done it with RSD added to the mix.
Maybe you can rent some DVD's and have a "movie party" each evening. Get in your jammies and veg out. It may help Jaden sleep better (just no action packed movies-lol).
This way, you'll establish some special 'mommy and me' time in the evenings when your husband isn't home. It's a way of sharing something with your son that isn't physically exhausting.
I hope the week goes by quickly!
