G'morning', personally, I haven't taken cymbalta but have taken other anti depressants (was on paxil for many years and just recently tried lexapro for help with the pain and sleep). It generally takes 4- 6 weeks for you to feel anything from them at all and it's not going to be a night and day difference- only a general sense of well-being (hard to describe) my pain doctor told me not to give up on the lexapro for a good 4- 6 months so I did give it 6 months then I stopped taking it because I didn't notice any significant improvements and would rather not add another med to my system. I went from paxil to cymbalta, i started on a lower dosage and after a week or two went to a higher dosage, due to anxiety, it has been a few months and i don't know exactly when it started to work, but it is, there wasn't like a huge difference just a suttle one

It depends on why you are on Cymbalta. If for depression then you may have to increase to get a result, that is if the med works for you. As for nerve pain, the med is very subtle. It helps but as a second or third med in your regimen. It doesn't help everyone though, so keep a good line of communication open with your doctor,

I dont remember how soon the Cymbalta started working but it did. I am taking the maximine dosage and don't have the muscle pain I did. you may need to up the dosaage. I have not had any adverse reactions to it at all.I take 120mg every night but we went up slowly. after 4 weeks it shoud be working so try uping dosage. Good luck and Daily Strength hugs to you.

Are you looking for the PAIN relief that the Cymbalta is supposed to give or for depression relief? I'm on it for both. For me, it worked GREAT for the depression, but I've noticed nothing for pain relief. It is supposed to have pain relieving qualities in it, but you couldn't prove it by me. I love it for the anit-depression tho. It started working probably within 2 weeks for me. I'd just come off of Prozac too.

I think it was about a month before it started working fully for me, but I felt a difference within the first 2 weeks. I was started on 30mg and that helped me for a little while, but now I'm on 60mg to help with anxiety as well and it helps my pain a lot more. I would ask if you can have it upped to the next dosage. It could be that your body needs more of it to work correctly. Each person reacts differently so it can be really hard to tell

Cymbalta took a numbre of weeks before it started working, and then I needed to raise the dose. I also started taking the slow-release type, which I found to be the most effective. I can truly say that cymbalta has been a life saver for me. It really helped with the neuropathy pain and the emotional pain that came with it. Bear through those early side-effects--sleepiness and light-headedness. I hope you'll find the same kind of relief that I have. I also take it in combination with other drugs--elavil and gabapentin--so this might be a factor. Hope this helps.

I have been on this drug for 2 years now and it took about a week to see good results. I reallynoticed it when my bag I carry my drugs in was stolen and I had to wait a week to get it refilled all it took was one day and I was happy again so not telling you to quit for a couple of days but if it is not working for you what other choice do you have. Hope you get it working because it is a wonder drug for me as it dose have some pain releiving stuff in it. Hope this helps Thomas

Hi, The cymbalta did work for me but had to go off, due to side effect but I start at 30mg for a week then went to 60mg you may need dosage increase.

Great drug! Could not have asked for any other anti-depressant that work wonders on the depressio., anxiety and pain.

I came off Lexapro because of adverse side effects and went on cymbalta. Started on 30 and then went to 60. Noticed a difference within a week on the 30 for the depression, 60 even more so. Dr wanted to go up to 90, but I nixed that. I felt fine on 60 so why bump it up more? No side effects at all, which is great considering all the others I've tried.
