HI all,
I rarely post here, so I'll quickly reintroduce myself: I have Stage IV endometriosis. The daily pain is usually around a 4, but during my period or ovulation it's easily an 8. I have pretty frequent cyst ruptures which are 9 or 10 easily. I am not on hormone therapy because I have been trying to get pregnant for several years, plus my body reacts poorly to birth control.
Anyway I just had my second surgery in six months about three weeks ago. My surgeon removed a ton of endometriosis and multiple cysts from both of my ovaries. Pretty much all of my organs were stuck together and now everything has been repositioned and sewn back into place, and I've been given the go-ahead to try to get pregnant again (and YAY my doctor thinks I have an excellent shot!...but I find out on Wednesday if I will need to go through meds and IUI or if I can go at it naturally).
After the surgery my pain was controlled very poorly. They gave me Motrin and Vicodin which are what I take pretty much daily, so they did nothing for the post-surgical pain. I had to go into the office about five days post-surgery and I was screaming and crying because the pain was so bad. They switched me to 15mg Oxycodone (the pure stuff without acetaminophen) and that helped quite a bit, but I only took it for a few days because I am petrified of developing a tolerance to my drugs...if they don't work, I am literally curled up on the floor screaming and throwing up from pain.
SO...now I am about three weeks out. I have an extremely intense burning pain about halfway between my right-side incision and my belly button when I bend over, sit down, or twist my torso. I saw the NP about it yesterday and since they don't think it's a hernia or an infection, she said it's probably musculoskeletal pain and to get back on round the clock Motrin and Vicodin and see how I feel by Friday. I also have extreme tenderness on the right side of my waist now; I can't even put my hands there.
My question is this: has anyone here ever experience pain like what I'm describing post-operatively (specifically post laparoscopy) and if so, how long did it take to go away, and did you ever get a clear answer as to what was causing it? The intensity of this pain has not diminished one iota; the only reason I'm able to tolerate it now is because I feel completely fine everywhere else - no more muscle aches or cramps or feeling like my organs got sliced apart :)

I worked in the hospitail as a LPN and I also have a si in law with endo. When you have a lap you can end up with major pain . Some times it is due to adhesions and other times it is because they move all your insides around so much that it causes inflammation. Are you taking a anti-inflammatory. but be very careful you can cause bleeding if you take pain meds for to long. Do you have a tens machine. I would try that on a low frequency and see if it helps. Have you tried a heating pad on low or ice pack. Sometimes by doing 10 of each it can cause the pain to stop. Especially if it is musculoskeletal. But you are doing the right thing , keep in touch with your doctor at all times. if your pain changes , if you get a fever , or any other symptoms go back to the ER. The last thing you want is to get a infection . Let's pray it all settles down within a few days. I would try drinking so pineapple juice too , pineapple has a special healing tendency. It heals the body from the inside out. If you have any opther surgery's for at least a week drink pineapple juice you will see you will heal faster. okay. I hope this helps you. I have had numerous laps and I always get extreme pain just because of the gases that they blow into your body to see there area they are working on. It takes a good week for the gas to disipate. I wish there was something I could tell you to take but I never found any thing. I even tried Gripe water , and pe ppermint tea. Good luck isabee

I don't have an answer for you and I found nothing that really helped except icy/hot packs. OTC.
