Can you contact the manufacturer of the meds? Some of these companies will help chronic pain patients with the cost of the meds. You might try this. It's worth the call.

Also, Montel Williams has a foundation that pays for peoples meds when they can't afford them. I can't remember the name of it, but if you Google Montel's name, I'm sure it will come up. They'll pay for it. There are other groups too, but I don't know of them. You might try Googling and see what you come up with.

I just Googled Montel Williams, and up came several places that said "Free Prescriptions" and "Assistance with Prescriptions" etc. You might try that and see what you find. Just type in Montel Williams in your search engine, and see what you find

there are some cheaper pain meds out there for ppl with little to no pharmacy coverage, so see if he can swich you to a cheaper one

it's not the cost of meds, it's the cost of seeing the doc to get them. my vic's are like 5 dollars for 90 of them, but just to get the script, it's 60 bucks. it's against the law to call in a vicodin script, so i need a hardcopy every time. also, refills aren't permitted.

this is what really ticks me off!! The pain docs in certain states know they are the only ones you can see so they charge an enormous amount for the "visit" when you are basically being charged for a RX to be written, then you have to go pay for it to be filled. They wonder why pain clinics are being shut down! I have even seen them refuse to take any insurance so they can get cash! If i were you i would be looking for a more legit. pain dr. one who actually cares more for the patient then a bank roll of money. I would go and let him write you a script, then when you go to pay (after you have script) tell them you need to make payments or something cause you just do not have all the money right now. Let them know they can bill your insurance then bill you after they pay. what can they do tell you no? if you do not have it you just do not have it!! They should be willing to do monthly or bi weekly payment plan with you. Hope it works out for you. good luck and feel better.

I get 4 refills of norco, can your doc do that? so you dont have to go there all the time, I pay 300$ to see my pain doc, 4x yrly.

first of all i'am sorry you live in that state.. i live in calif and no such laws exist. would it be possible to go to another state to see a PM doc.it makes me so sad and angry when i hear about the way pain patients and you are being treated. it also sounds as if your meds. are not doing such a great job. what about other pain patients in your state, are they being helped? who are they seeing. your treatment sounds like something out of the dark ages. please let me know how its going. so sorry can't offer more.

I understand the level of frustration. Here where I Iive u have to go to your doc. and be with him when he writes you a script. It is so stupid. I had to find a new Pain Doc becuz my last Pain Doc didn't give a crap about how I felt it was about writing a script and pushing me out the door and then getting paid. I had a bill of 35$ that if I didn't get paid they said they wouldn't write me another prescription. How cold. They know your between a rock and a hard place and they play it well. So much for doctors don't want to cause no harm...

I got referred to pain clinic and they actually helped by increasing my pain meds. But my family doc can still prescribe them . I had no idea there were states more controlling that N Y.
So either you don't have insurance or they don't accept it and charge you to write a script without seeing you? Racket.

donttread, there is inaccurate information in this discussion. For example, a doctor can fax a Schedule II prescription to a pharmacy. Provided the doctor and pharmacy both have approved software. Unfortunately, it is not unusual for doctors to lie to patients. It is also not against the law for other doctors, besides pain management doctors to prescribe opiates for chronic pain. Few patients take the time to do their research and read and keep up with their state laws and federal laws. Anyone can find out their state laws governing opiates for chronic non cancer pain by putting State name laws governing prescribing of opiates for chronic non cancerous pain in Google. Doctors are not paid for writing a prescription when they do not see the patient. That is why many doctors require patients to be seen for prescriptions. Some pain management doctors require patients to be seen once every 60 or 90 days. Some doctors require patients to come in every 30 days for their prescription. It is up to each individual doctor.. Some doctors work with patients that are having a difficult time financially. Those that do are usually in private practice by themselves or with only one other doctor, Doctors that work at clinics owned by hospitals, other doctors, etc. Have little to no say in how the business office is run..
