I do not recall a long wait at my pain doctor when I went...I went to one two times....the long wait time is totally rude to their customers and they should be told that.....I would not put up with it....

I had long wait times at my long ago psychiatrist....I usually waited...I remember walking out one time....small office...they knew me well....

I'm so sorry. Seems I have posted this before. I forgot.

I always had long waits...unless I requested the first appointment of the morning...which was usually earlier than heck but worth it. Otherwise, at the one clinic, I waited at least 1.5 hours after my appt to get my script and next appt or I waited 1.5-2 hours before with the other clinic.

PM clinics are overwhelmed with patients now that many (if not most) PCP's (or other docs) are uncomfortable with prescribing narcotics for long-term pain management.

I suggest trying to get the first appt of the morning if you can swing it. It was the only time I never waited.

I never wait more than 10-15 minutes in the lobby... and maybe 5-10 mins max in the room. My last visit was 30 minutes total... and I love my doctor!

Find a new doctor!! Heck no that is not acceptable! The longest I have waited for my PM is 90 minutes. I was 45 minutes early, so that takes it down to 45 minute wait. During that time, I had two apologies from the staff about the wait.

That is at the VA hospital, a government run facility. No reason other than bad business practices that you would have to wait.

I hat to wait for over 30 minutes to see my first pain management doctor. I only went to him once and never went back to him. There was a lady in a wheelchair sitting in the lobby longer than I was. I also got there a half an hour early. I always show up to my doctor appointments early. That is the kind of patient I am, So I ended up waiting for an hour to see the doctor. What I hated is that they guy never even examined my leg. He just read some of my medical file and came to the conclusion that my pain was from ischemia - which is a lack of blood flow. He proceeded to fill out a report on me where he wrote that my leg had normal strength, full range of motion, and that I had normal gait. That is part of what the SSA judge used to say my leg was not bad. The guy never even tested my leg. I was out of the room in less than ten minutes. The guy cut my meds in half and started me on Gabapentin. I could never get his office on the phone to let them know that the Gabapentin was not working. I was also going through more of my pain pills due to pain. He verbally stated that I can have 4 Norco a day, but he RX'ed me for only three of them per day. I just dropped him as a doctor after he tried to push the spinal cord stimulator on me. I hope my next pain management doctor (I will be scheduling an appointment with him soon) is much better than this doctor is.

I would not change pain management doctors if you are getting roper meds from him. You might have a hard time finding a new doctor that will continue you on your current treatment regimen. If you are getting proper pain management, I would just put up with the excessive wait time. If you want to change doctors, try and have another doctor lined up before you leave this one. Make sure you can find another pain management doctor who has the same philosophy as your current doc. I hope you make the best decision that you can in this case, Crazy. Hugs!
