Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I also think anyone with fibro is a candidate for arthritis. Tell your dr you want that blood work done. He can call the order in where ever you want it done. RA runs strongly in families.
My hands have been hurting bad too and i've had to slow down on my typing. I am also doing some exercises with them that I asked about in another room *. I roll a ball on the table with my hands. I gently stretch them. I was squeezing the ball, but that was making my pain worse. I am now squeezing a wash clothe, much better. I also am wrapping my hands in warm wash clothes.
If your dr doesn't listen though get into a rheumy. If you are able to with your drs consent take ibuprophen for inflammation.
Hope you find some relief soon,
Toni
Helps me a little..
As everyone knows...'cause it keeps me from typing...this is a source of constant frustration for me...
My docs are thinking auto-immune-mixed connectice tissue disease..
Isn't RA an auro-immune.......
Try to push your doc to xhexk that, Dixie...
I have multiple health yuck....but the hand thing may drive me the most...'cause it disconnects me from here..
Dixie....YOU NEED YOUR HANDS to ve as well as possible...if your doc won't address it....get another....
Toni's right...RA runs in families...and with fivro for some.
Hugs...jc..
I don't know what I'm going to do about a dr. No rhuemy's in my area. And I don't want to drive 2.5 hours to see one.
I do have some CP specialists in my area, but I think I just need a good dr. since I just have fibro & DDD. I'm trying to ask around about Dr.'s
So far I haven't had any luck.
BTW, this pain is in the finger joints of every finger ...both hands:(
Just an idea. I have never tried it myself.

Take care, raggedy
I told my dr I'd be using it as my new body lotion everywhere a few times a day. My script had 6 big tubes and I'm down to my last one now. I read yesterday that Vicks vapor rub works great on your hands. I haven't tried it yet but I will soon.
I have arthritis in both hands and tendinopathy. So I try anything suggested. Hope you feel better soon.
Dan
Gentle hugs.
I would suggest you go to the doctor but this can be fibro. I have pain in my hands, they get stiff and they do burn, I also have tingling in my fingers. Your hands can also be cold all the time. if you have blue moons near you cuticles it is a syndrome but they don't usually do anything for it. I have problems with my hand also. Typing is harder. I can 't grab things as well and it isn't unsually for them to burn. I have had this happen in my elbows and arms over the last year or two. My doctor had me do a stretch to rule out carpal tunnel. But it is always good to go to the doctor to get checked for arthritis and RA. My grandmother has it so I have been checked several times. But it can just be fibro. I am sorry there a lot of wierd effect of fibro. I have a ton of them. My list is just plain nuts. Stretching them and not over using them in repetative actions. More repeative more they hurt. Do look into finger stretches. Good luck. I use tyenol rub and it helps a bit but mostly heat is what helps the most.
Call your dr tomorrow and get that blood test set up, ask to talk to his nurse. Tell her you want to get a blood test for RA done at where ever you go. All hospitals do this.
