The best way to do this is to except it. Except that your life now exists with Chronic Pain and there's nothing you can do to change that. The more you try to entertwine the 2 the more successful you are. And by that I mean, think about what your going to eat for lunch and dinner that day, think about if its go to cause belly pain or nausea. If it will start your meds early, like when dinner is cooking.
So you know that after dinner you'll have to get your folks cleaned up and ready to bed; so you kind of half to make sure your dinner isn't going to make your stomach hurt. After Dinner and things are straightened our with your parent. Then you take some time for yourself, so that you can relax, renew, and recharge.
Don't feel bad for spending some time to your self, i.e. a hot scented bubble bath, a nice hot long shower, take an hour and read a favored book. Just do something that is specific for you. Enjoy yourself for a little while and just relax. Settle your folks with a warm drink and a TV show and just give yourself an hour to relax.
