This has been going on for a while, If you go to the FDA website and look at "drug shortages" you will see what the latest is on the shortage of Oxycodone and other medications in the market. Just Google FDA drug shortages.

I can totally relate! Although I don't take the same medicine as you, my pharmacist had to call 2 other CVS's and finally called the dreaded Walgreens, who finally had my medicines!!! It was so scary to think that I wasn't going to get it on time if they had to order it. When I went to AZ to find my doc before I move in June, I needed to get my script filled (it was written by my current doc, not a new one) and my dad was smart enough to call a week in advance to make sure they ordered it. THEN, they weren't going to fill it because my doc wrote it all on one script. I called my doc, who I was 1,200 miles away from, and he PICKED UP HIS PHONE RIGHT AWAY ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON!!! WOW, that should win an award or something!!!!! :-D He stuck it to the pharmacist, who had apparently insinuated that I changed the script, and made them fill it. Hahaha, my doc knows I would never do anything like that. I was so scared that I would not be able to get my medicine, especially being that far from home. He handled it so well that I'm sad to leave him in June... Anywho, I know what the fear is like. Not being able to get your scripts is the worst feeling. And then the worst is having people look at us like we're worried about getting a fix or something! Um, no, without this medicine I'd be in severe pain, unable to do anything but lay in bed, and at this particular time, it would have made setting things up for my move impossible! Luckily, I kept my cool and my doctor handled it beautifully! The things we have to go through!!! Maybe call about a week in advance? I know there is a shortage, but this will give them time to prepare as to not catch them off guard. It's a terrible situation, our government sucks, and I hope it gets resolved soon!!!

My Pharmacist told me to call him BEFORE my next appt to find out what they have in before I get a script for it. I was amazed. What is the big deal with Oxy? Are they trying to take it off the market? Is it dangerous and they haven't announced it yet? I am a little uneasy about all of this. I am wondering if I should just go on a different medication altogether.

Has anyone heard anything?

Like I said before........... Google FDA medication shortages and you will find the reason why there is a shortage on Oxycodone and other medications. It has something to do with the manufacturing, nothing to do with anyone trying to get it off the market.

The shortage is starting to ease up here in conn. wow what a relief! I had to call store after store and finally got 15mg instead of the 30 mg. they just gave me more but it was a big process and very stressful. walgreens in conn. just doesnt have any and they havent for months now. Its the manufactuer that they use. I didnt care for their generics anyway..they seem to be inferior to the others. I never thought there would be a diff, in generics but there really is. It was even posted on one of the sites about the inferiority of some of them. do your research and good luck to all.

i hear ya about generics, they dont work as well.

my doc said the shortage problem might ease up this month sometime. Hope so....they put me on opana, and I do not like it as well, and it is 4x as much.

I totally understand I went to the dr on the 16th last month and he told me that they were no longer giving patients oxycodone!! I thought oh god what am I supposed to do? I didnt know there was a shortage he never told me that, just that the pharmacist would not have enough to fill my prescription because I normally take 5mg/ and would have 180 for the month. It stinks my new pain med dialudid gives me these horrible headaches to the point that there cannot be any lights on and I will watch tv to take my mind off of it because I cannot sleep so I will turn on the subtitles and turn the volume down to where it is tolerable. Hubby is getting frustrated again with me. I want to know why exactly there is a shortage it just sucks Ifind the one thing that works for me and they take it away they wouldnt do that to anyone else but chronic pain patients huh. Should just be gratefull I have something that takes the edge off a smidge.

It should be alright now. but it was because of the manufactures. The people who make the drug had a problem with the FDA. We had such a shortage in our area I didn't have it for 2 months and had to sub with a lesser drig that didn't ork as well and then when they finally got it back two pharmacys got robbed. To add insult to injury a pain clinic was shut down in our area because of overdosing so people were calling the pharmacies mad and my pain clinic was inindated with people going thru withdrawls. FUN STUFF!!! Glad it wasn't me.
