I'm sorry....."tried" what, please?

Nucynta is brand name for Tapentadol, which is a pretty new Opioid Analgesic pain med. It was first marketed for the Neuropathic pain of Diabetes, but is now cross marketed for Chronic Pain as well.

It's a dual action medication that works as an agonist of the μ-opioid receptor (nociceptive pain) and as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (neuropathic pain).

This drug can not be taken in conjunction with alcohol or other central nervous system (CNS) depressants such as sedatives, hypnotics, tranquilizers, general anesthetics, and other opioids. Hypotension, extreme sedation, coma, respiratory distress and death could be the results of mixing any of these substances.

This is a synthetic drug, meaning it was created in a lab, not born from natural plants/herbs. You have to be very diligent about not mixing any of the above substances. You also have to be careful taking it with any other meds that effect your Serotonin level as this can cause Serotonin Storm/Syndrome.

I personally have never met anyone that's taken this drug...it's pretty new and the side effects and cross-committal severity is kind of scary. Didn't find much data on it's effectiveness for chronic pain.

This looks like one you'll probably have to try to see how it does for you.

Hey, Boo. Read up on LDN. Low Dose Naltrexone. It is showing great promise for RSD, Fibromyalgia, MS, Lupus & other painful central nervous system disorders & autoimmune diseases. It has to been started at a very low dose (0.5 mg - 1mg) & the dose can upped as needed. It cannot be taken with opiods though as at it's highest dose, 50mg, it is used to get people off of opiods. I found it online when I pulled up LDN for CRPS/RSD & LDN for Fibromyalgia. Anyway, give it a read if you are so inclined. Hope this is helpful. Gentle hugs.

Thx tracy! I too have seen a lot on LDN therapy however, I'm scared because I have been taking narcotic agonists forever so I fear I'd have to be clean of agonist b4 I could start the LDN? Then I would be in extreme pain not having any pain med until LDN started working

Nothing seems to help better for my pain than Oxycodone.

Hi boo. I've been taking Nucynta for about 3 yrs. I take it 3 x's daily. It is effective for pain. I'm never pain free but who is, regardless of meds? There is also LA Nucynta that I tried but it was ineffective for me. Good luck!
