Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Sorry, I am no help
Kallie
It's sole purpose is to treat pain so no worries of feeling high or "drunk". That's what sold me on it. It's a darned good medication, IMO.
There is another med that people don't have a lot of experience with called Nubaine. It's gotten very gould reviews from varying types of pain.
Kat
I have not heard of Nubain either but my PM sudggested it a while back. I have not tried it but it is on our short list of possibles. From what I read on both they hae the same side effects as all the others, dp you know what the difference is?
Thanks
I've been taking NuCynta since early May and it's a great drug- for me. Some people cannot tolerate the side effects from it. I had bad ones early on and wanted to stop it, but my pm doc encouraged me to keep taking it and I'm so glad he did.
I use it in the ER form as a breakthrough med. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to work, but I find I do have to take it every 6 hours or so. Not sure why that is, but obviously my pm doc knew this and so he wrote for it every 6 hours.
I've found that the combination of NuCynta and Opana has really worked fairly well for me.
If you try it, just try to get pass the first few weeks of side effects. They do go away after a time. I can handle them better than pain.
Good luck!
Sandy
kat, thanks for the tip on Nubaine. I'll ask my doc about it.
Any Google Nucynt a seratonin syndrom.
( Nucynta has slight SSRI and more NRI effects...so..combined with some meds..opiates..tramadol..Nucynta.....
Can cause seratonin syndrom.
Not having " high" effects doesn't necessarily equate to not being addictive.
Good luck..I hope it's something you can try and works well for you.
BTW...it's OK to bring up something that's been discussed before...
The RORs regarding that are just to keep folks from repeating the same topics/subjects all the time.
Hugs....jc
thanks for the post! It turned out to help me too.
Sandy
Sure was suprised there was so many answers!
I think I will ask my pm about this one,as well as Nubaine. She mentioned she might have to move me to methadone for a month to take a break from Opana ER as for some reason it suddenly stopped working on me (which has me in the 10+ pain range and freaked about how it could just stop working all of the sudden). I am terrified of taking methadone as I tend to have the worse side effects of medicine, and I'm allergic to most of them....and that's not so good with methadone.
Anyway, thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. Going through very tough times and not on the computer much due to pain.
