9 hours in the hospital yesterday and the proud recipient of a new disease. Graves disease to add to my migraine disease. I feel so angry right now, but it hasnt yet bubbled up yet to I know where it should be. Its still sitting in depression and crying.

I knew something was wrong when my hands were shaking for some time and I had other symptoms, but what sent me to the hospital was after, what I thought was a good nights sleep, I couldnt make it to work without pulling over and taking a nap along the way. Then at work I kept knodding off at my desk every 5 minutes. Then I took my pulse and HOLY SMOKE, it was racing.

Its not fair. I started out the athletic girl with the high spirits and the drive to accomplish what I set out to do, but my body is so contradictory to my soul. It just keep bringing me to my knees, time and time again. What I accomplish now is just mediocre by others standards, but great strides to me under the circumstances. If God is teaching me humble, that I am learning.

Still I mourn as my world has just gotten smaller again.

Hang in there lovvie. Im so sorry to hear this from you, but things will get better. Im sure docs will be able to help you out =)
After a bit of time, Im sure youll become a fighter again...I know its hard and I know its not fair, but dont let this beat you!

I looked in the mirror and looking back at me was someone unreconizable..I was slowly being changed..slowly being shut down.many symptoms..tireness..pain..I was a mess..hormones oh yes hormones my foe..I went for tests Monday three hours..no cure but the someone made a comment you look well..I have bad days can you beat the odds you can give it your best..Im going to be honest tough battle yes a very tough battle..I saw my doctor who said I was a bee that can fly without wings..I thought I would let you know

Hun,

I am so sorry for this added condition, but if you are anything like I am, is a good thing that they found what is wrong, that gives you validation, and it also tells your Doctor, that you were right! Graves is a condition that can be treated very easily, so at least you have that on your side. I have many other things wrong with me besides my fail back surgery syndrome, but I try not to dwell on it, as long as I am treated and the Doctor's consider my conditions, then I am happy. Life is too short, and we need to choose our battles, this is one of those things that with treatment can help you to feel better in a very short time.

I know how you feel, after finding out test results yesterday, I have new dx's as well and have been crying.
I do wish you well and maybe we can all hang in there together.
I will be praying for you.
I do have a question I shake really bad and I am going to neuro next month to figure that out. how did yours start?
I don't know if I can take another dx.

Prayers and support. No sometimes we can get wrapped up in it not being fair and yes it can make me mighty angry! Perhaps our stations in life have not yet been carved out fully and this journey we are on will reveal itself oneday. Becoming bitter and angry is something I have to fight and I know I'm not alone. And you aren't either.

I'm so sorry that you have more to deal with, but answers are good so you know what you're fighting. I imagine this period of grief is pretty normal. Ride it out, honey, then put your gloves on!

Me too.....I have a another diagnosis to add to my list!! Wow, it think this makes 3 of us that have something else to cope with. It's really, really hard. I have heard of Graves but I'm not sure what it entails. I'm so very sorry. I don't know you very well yet but from what I've seen so far you'll be just fine. Just remember that OK? You will be ok, and you will learn to cope with this in time. I'm added you to my prayers, if you don't mind of course. Let us know how your doing.

I'm really sorry you have something else to contend with... of course no one is happy to have something in their body not working the way it should. But I can tell you my sister has Graves disease and most of the time it doesn't affect her much at all. It is a treatable condition... and while she has flare-ups from time to time mostly it is well controlled. So try not to get too upset about it... I think you will find it is not such a big issue once you have seen a specialist and got treatment underway.

i'm really sorry about the news. it's really hard to get something new when you feel like you're barely coping, but you will get through this and re-build in spite of this.as long as you have breath, you have hope. let yourself grieve, then you'll make the adjustments and chart your new path. you will make it through this. hugs and hope!

You are all so precious to me. Greiving my bodies losses and the reality of my new situation is what I am going through right now. I realished each of your responses and I thank you for your replies.

Next wednesday I go in for radiation tests to see what is causing it and how bad it is. After that we can move forward to a releif plan.

I know where you are with this. My throid numbers came back wrong. Doc wants me to start meds. I don't want to climb onto the homone roller coaster right now.

Of course, that does not compare to yours. But I have some idea.
I cried for the last two weeks.

I am reading the responses and there seems that Graves may be a treatable disease. It still sucks, isn't fair, and sucks again. Please know that you are being held up in prayer and loving support.

I had that same thing happen to me............falling asleep.....anywhere-everywhere.even fell asleep standing up once:( _ weird thing when that happens!!!

Now I don't have insurance.........so I never was able to get any tests or anything done........one quack doc put me on Zoloft?????? Guess he thought I was depressed???? It helped for about 2 weeks.....then back asleep I was........

After months of trying to figure out what was wrong (Doc Google)........I ended up in the hospital................They dx CHF and COPD........put me on blood pressure meds and diuretics and I haven't had a "sleepy" spell since.

I'm not "well".......but I am awake:):)

I am very sorry that you have something else to worry about.
It does not seem fair that we deal with chronic pain and still get all the other diseases that "normals" get - does it?

Hope you are feeling a little more positive about this by today!
