Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I al so sorry you are hurting!!! Hope it heals soon.
Hugs!!!
I've had severe swelling in my lower limbs for almost a year now. The swelling presses on the nerves & causes severe pain especially on the top of the feet. Add in my spine issues and that's affecting my two outer toes. My big toes, Achilles and soles of both feet have tendon inflammation from my psoriatic arthritis. Basically my feet are a hideous mess. I haven't been able to wear real shoes since January.
There's a couple of nerves that my neuro says the pain is coming from. A dermatome map will show you what might be causing it from where in your spine. Two nerves in the lumbar effect the outer toes and the tops of the feet. There's another nerve at the ankle that splits and can affect the top of the foot & half of the big toe.
If the pain is bothering you that much and its from inflammation which I'm assuming since he gave you Motrin for pain then can he give you a cortisone and/or a lidocaine injection to settle things down and get you thru the holidays until the MRI results come back? I wouldn't recommend steroid injections in small tendons because some can rupture but the top of the foot should be fine. Once you get the inflammation settled down that should decrease your pain levels a lot.
There's no reason to leave you suffering when something can be done to help you in the meantime.
Hope you get the pain managed and enjoy your holiday.
Take care,
Emerald
