Geez, I wish I was only 105 pounds again, lol. But seriously weight gain is a very unwanted and frustrating side affect of any steroid. I had an epidural a few weeks ago and had a terrible reaction to it,plus it was extremely painful although I had light sedation so I wont be getting those ever again. Anyway to counteract the weight gain I eat only apples during the day and I have dinner with my family at night. The apples have alot of fiber and keep me satisfied. It has really helped me not gain weight and I have axtually lost quite a few pounds. The loss is evident all around but its real evident in my face, thank God.
But if you are worried about it call your family doc and tell him what is going on so he can reasure you. Anyway good luck to you and so sorry that you are going through all this. Gentle hugs and blessings

Certain meds can cause weight gain and so can steroid shots. I had trigger point injections with steroids I had around 8 in a two month period into different places where myofacail pain had developed into huge muscle knots the size of apples and they were covered with scar tissue. I gained about 20 pounds and could not stop eating but after the 20 pound gain I started leveling off and didn't gain anymore. I did eventually lose the extra 20 pounds.
I never did gain weight with a single EPI it was after I had so many shots in a short time but we are all different.
I don't know what meds your on but I do know some of the meds they give to CP patients are notorious for weight gain.
Any way thats been my experience with certain types of meds and shots.
I hope you feel better soon and you have some good news at your next appointment.
Take care,
Madsy

all steroids will cause you to have an iincreased appetite, bloating, and weight gain- it's a very common side effect. I thought that I read at one point that you were taking lyrica? That medication is known for the side effect of weight gain as well:( I guess you have to weigh the benefits against the side effects- no pun intended. xoxoLyn
to hopefully lose some weight. im sorry guys if you thought i was calling 105 fat for me i have just came from 72 pounds from the hospital in february to 105 now i guess today is november huh. well i hope everyone has a great weekend. hugs
It will not be forever in your system, and the fluid loss itself will go away as soon as the steroids get out of your body. The gaining of actual fat is tougher however, and losing it can be hard. Steroids can also cause the gaining of weight in strange places - such as the face.
You can try and make your help your body out, though. For edema it is important to make sure you are drinking a consistent amount of fluids every day. The body will hold onto fluids when it feels it isn't getting enough. It will also do so when you have excess sodium in your diet.
