Well hopefully the dr has figured out the problem once and for all and get you fixed up!

Vadim-we could use that sprayon bandage and just cover you with it :)

I hope your surgery is a great success and helps alleviate your pain. I just had a fusion from C3 - C5 & already had C6/7 done years ago. They had to put 6 screws and bolts in me just to stabalize the neck. Ibi hope you just have to have a laminectomy. As long as they alleviate the pain and you're okay after, that's all we can ask for.

Good luck with your surgery, Tom. I have a question for you, or anyone else reading this. What symptoms were you having besides pain, prior to your first surgery, or now? I have cervical DDD (2 collapsed discs and stenosis) resulting in horrible neck pain and muscle spasms in, and around my shoulder area. I've had many pain management (torture) procedures, and finally went to an orthopedic surgeon, thinking I would have surgery as a last resort, only to be told he wouldn't operate because my spine wasn't being effected. I had no pain, tingling, or.numbness in my arms. I cried. That was 3-4 years ago, and nothing has changed. Was/is your spine being effected?
Sorry for.taking over your post. I just really want to know.why you "get" to have surgery and I don't.

Good luck with your surgery Tom. I know what you are going through. I am fused from C3-C7 and L4-S1. I wish you a speedy recovery. Let us know how you make out.
Karsu the only thing I can think of is that the discs weren't pushing on the spinal cord which is dangerous. When was your last MRI? If you are not happy with the doc I would certainly get a second opinion.

I am gonna try to keep typing since KarSu asked a question to me. I have got pain in my right arm; therefore, I am grinning and bearing right now. My first neck surgery was on March 5th of 2010. OK. I was not having much neck pain back then. (never complained to a doctor about my neck) OK. I was on the nightshift back then, and I went to a restaurant for lunch.(retired/disabled by now) OK. My legs started bothering me. I could not make my normal strides once I got up.(scary) I did not say anything to anybody until I went and told my parents. Of course, I did not go back to work until 4 months, or so, later. Oh! I could make my normal strides while wearing the brace during post op recovery. (until I went back to work again)(and could sometimes and couldn't sometimes) OK. I was not aware of the DDD in my lumbar area quite yet. I will quit rambling and move on to 2014 now. I have been having neck pain that is worse than the back pain is sometimes.(different pain levels sometimes) (and walk with a cane now) OK. My mother set up an appointment with a different doctor without knowing my neck was hurting as much. He wanted to view a fresh cervical and lumbar MRI.(not surprising) OK. He was more concerned about my neck because there is obviously something wrong at the C5-6.(which I was viewing on the screen) It looked like whatever it was was going inward to me. I have got throbbing pain in my arm; therefore, I am going to have to stop typing now. Yep. ...bye

I might need c-spine surgery in a few years. They want to fuse a type of plastic brace to the upper part of my c-spine, (that's where the damage is). To be honest...I'm a bit afraid of this one. My shoulder was done and it's worse now then before.
I just want to wish you luck, and let us know how things work out. Hang in there buddy!

Thank you for your replies Jasmine and Tom. I am sorry it causes you so much pain to type, Tom (I know and understand), and I appreciate the effort it took for you to reply. It sounds like your DDD does effect your spine, because you get pain down your arm. It also sounds like you had to endure a lot in 2010, and now, presently.
I truly hope you get relief that lasts with this next surgery.
