So sorry hon! That is the same thing that happened to me when i moved to Nashville, TN! Over 16 months, I never found a dr that would accept me as a patient or prescribe anything other then tramadol, even the ER would only dispense 2 hydro 5's! 2!!!!!!
Best of luck! Pain Management keeps me terrified of moving or traveling for long periods of time! Its a shame that dr's don't really know what quality of life is for a CPP!

So sorry that you are having so much pain. You should not have to deal with a doctor that will give all the heavy stuff, but not give you the lighter one that would actually work for you. That is just foolish. May I ask what part of New York you are in? I live here as well and have a wonderful PCP that helps me with all my pain meds. Maybe you are close enough to give him a try. Let me know if you are interested.

I live in Buffalo and I don't have a car.

I know how you feel, morphine and nucynta do nothing for my pain.
I have a great doc but when he changed me to morphine I had to get a emergency visit with him and he uped my morphine but gave me norco for breakthru pain and thats what is getting me by untill I see him again.
I did reshearch on morphine and for a percentage of people it does not work, I think I fall into that catagory maybe you fall into that catagory also. maybe do some reshearch and show it to doc and see if he will give you something that works.
I wish you the best keep trying and you will get the meds you need.

She told me flat out, "I absolutely do not prescribe that drug (percocet)" and something about how it's the most addictive drug out there. Holy crap. It makes me so mad. And the other shitty thing is that I thew out my morphine because I was upset about it. I woke up in the AM with the worst pain in the world and went and got them out of the trash. I could only save 11 out of 30. Now I only have Nucynta for the rest of the month. AND I'm going to AZ for x-mas.

I can barely get off my sofa to clean today. Between having a coldish thing, pain and being depressed. Needless to say, I feel like shit. :(

That is absolutely nuts! And Percocet been the most addicted drug out there??!! That is a new one! ARe there any other PM Doc's were you live? I deal with the same thing. My pain doc will give me the hard drugs but will not Rx me percocet. She claims they are abused too much...come on....like the hard stuff is not abused. I am not sure what is wrong with these pain docs, but a lot of them seen to be thinking this way. I am sorry you are in so much pain. All I can recommend is to see if the doc will increase the hard stuff to get you at a level of better pain relief.

Wow...that is royally messed up! The doctors will give you the hard narcotics but not something like perc's? I know some doc's practically go into a vapor lock over Oxy with all the crap out there about the abuse. Makes me wonder what people who are just coming into their own chronic pain will go through for getting meds.

i hate it when dr's put their own personal opinions in medicine like that.
i had a dr. once who was convinced that xanax was the worst drug in the world, and even though my former dr. had me on it, he said that his practice was to never prescribe it at all - also for it's addictiveness. my favorite part? i had been on it for years, and completely sporadically all the while. i'd take one a day for two weeks, if i needed, and then not touch it for three weeks straight ... completely proving that i had no issue with it. he didn't know that, but still - OBNOXIOUS! i hope you're able to find some relief.

one thing i thought of when i first read this was that he might not like prescribing so much acetominiphen ... could you ever slip around it and get a prescription for an form of the pill that doesn't contain it? i've been on that before ... oxy IR, i'm pretty sure (the instant release).
just a thought.
