Just came back from my doctor.
His attitude was more condescending than ever!.
He told me outright there is nothing else that he can do for me.
I told him about this procedure called "radiofrequency neurotomy" which as far as I know is for people who suffer from back or neck pain. He said it won't work for me and it's for people who have brain problems and he kept pointing to his brain like I don't know what a brain is!
I left his office feeling dejected and with more pain.
For how long do we have to put up with these miracle workers of medical science?

RFA or RFN is a procedure used to burn the nerves that are transmitting the pain. Depending on where your pain is and what is causing it this may or may not be appropriate. But it is definitely not a brain treatment...not exactly.

What type of doctor are you seeing? He sounds like he is incompetent to practice medicine. This is a procedure that a neurologist or interventional pm doc would perform.

Your doc sounds like my old PM doc... condescending, rude, and treats you like you are an idiot instead of a person.... I had to find a new PM doc... but this time I researched who to pick, and patient reviews. So far I really love the new doc.... Maybe you should do the same.

Thanks every one for your advice. Yes, I HAVE TO find a new doctor and this time I'll do some research before choosing a new one. I've been with this guy for over 10 years.
Tigg2, thanks for your advice, but the way system works here is that you have to be referred to a neurologist and guess what, your GP should refer you to a specialist! I was just surprised that he didn't know about the procedure. That just shows how competent he is.
I was so enraged yesterday that I thought I had to do something, but there's little that one can do. You don't want to be "blacklisted."

I know how frustrating it is believe me.... the other week when that doctor refused to fill my meds, refused to retest me, and I had a perfect track record.... When I went to my new PM today... a large majority of his patients were seen by my old PM doctor and treated incorrectly, and this was said by my new PM doc himself.

Try to get a referral out to get you a new doctor... because all that one you are seeing is doing, is holding you back.

I'm sorry you were treated that way. I don't know why but I'm still shocked by how some docs are so condescending, rude and arrogant. I've seen a lot over the years, one asked me why was I wasting his time when I'd already been told what wrong with me and had also been told nothing else could be done! I was so stunned and upset I just walked out and then swung between tears and rage for days afterwards so I get how you feel. I agree with others, when you feel up to it, try and explain how you just want to find some type of relief, and ask for another referral. Good luck with it all. Take care.
