Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
There's moments though that errrrrrrrrr, but hey we're all still here which shows the strength in us all.
Thanks for putting it out there,
Toni

I know when I was beginning my journey of CP and BiPolar 3 year later, I was married with a newborn and was in college full time wrapping up my second Degree and starting on the 3rd and worked. (I kinda had an overachiever issue)
So I had to find some way to get it all together because once they started operating on my once or twice every year I would have lost it all....doing it this way has helped me my whole 28 yrs of CP and 24 yrs of BiPolar.
Low Pain be with you guys.

I'm new here, so if you've posted about your background I have not seen it yet. I think in your post is some very good advice. Something I have a hard time with, is accepting where I am at, and going forward from here, rather than going back 12 years before all my misery started, and trying to re-write history. Sometimes the simpliest things in theory are the hardest to practice. So thanks for the post. It make a lot of sense.
Your so right about finding acceptance while living with CP, I think I finally might be nearly there and I wish everyone the best in this hard painful journey.
I've mostly learned the hard way what makes life easier. Trial and error, I suppose...along with periods of desperation to find something...ANYTHING...that works.
Anyhow, I could ramble on and on forever...thank you for providing such a well thought out post with excellent information.
(((HUGS))) to all!

One thing to add that helped me. I call this finding your new normal. It's something we have to do throughout our lives whether we have physical or mental issues or not. Everyone can expect that normal aging will bring changes to their body and to their lives. Well having chronic pain is just another change to our bodies and lives.
When we accept our "new normal" it makes it easier to find peace and acceptance. If you spend your life trying to be someone else you will be forever unhappy and tired.
I relate to the responses too!! Blessings and low pain to all!
Nice to see you here. My background is long and boring. LOL
I have a Degenerative Cartilage Disease (Connective Tissue Disorder) which affects all of my main joints, knees, hips, wrists and shoulders. I have a Seizure Disorder, Cluster Migraines and MS. I've had 30 surgeries int the last 16 years and a jillion procedures. I've been a Chronic Pain patient for 28 years since I was 17. I also have BiPolar Disorder w/Severe Suicidal Depression for 25 years.
I have multiple Degrees in Computer Science, Accounting, Paralegal and a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology specializing in Teens who Self Injure and Onset BiPolar patients.
My crappy body and all of it's crappy issues have kept me from working with patients for years now and I currently work as an Accountant. I'm Divorced (extremely happily) after 26 yrs. of marriage have 2 sons (22 & 15) and live alone, my 15 year old splits his time between me and his dad.
So that's me. Welcome to the Board, hope you find what your looking for here, there are so many great people.
Take care,
Kat
Life is good when you get rid of that dead weight spouse isn't it? Glad your doing okay and enjoying living alone. I lived alone for the first time at 43 years old...isn't that sad..and I love it!!!
Take care,
Kat

Also, for some of the things you posted last week to my thread on coping daily with work/life, I am grateful. Taking a scalding bath twice a day is a new part of my life, and it is sensational!
It's so easy to fall into a victim mentality with cp. Your posts have helped me have an "aha" moment about that; It's here to stay, and I'm either going to have to make room for pain or not live. And there is such beauty in my life to be enjoyed.
