I notice there has been a lot of discussion lately on the issue of kidney stones. Most doctors seem to have the same advice. Water by the gallon and cranberry juice.
I have been down the kidney stone road since 05 when I first had surgery for them. I have passed a few small ones since. It gets very hot here in the summer and my favorite is Gatorade. I was told by the doctor it can cause stones. (when consumed in large amounts)
Lemonade as strong as you can stand it is supposed to help you pass stones they say it helps you keep from forming them. They say the acid in it will not only help dissolve a stone it makes it easier to pass. I don't know if any of this is true but I try to stick to it. Lemonade instead of Gatorade in the summer.
As for the stones they come in many varieties. Mine were oxalate which is found in green veggies, nuts, beer, colas and many fruits. So are we damned if we do and so on?
I think it is a matter of keeping ourselves well flushed so to speak. Another thing I fail to understand is I never had a stone until I was over 50. Then after another ER visit for my last one I was told well you may just be a chronic stone carrier!! What the hell? Oh well that is my Kidney stone story hope you may learn something here to save you the pain I have dealt with. One more thing if you drink water they say add a slice of lemon to acidify your water. And if you eat or drink the so called forbidden fruits do so in moderation.

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good. They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...

Stones cause infections and cranberry juice makes your urine inconducive to bacterial growth. That's one home remedy that docs haven't pushed aside in favor of some pharmaceutical product. Yet.
