Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Thank you for reminding us it's okay to HATE CP and sometimes being positive is just NOT what we want to do. Sometimes, just sometimes, we want those negative feelings validated...if only just to get it off our chest.
While not directly related to CP but could absolutely be related to, I have been so tired of hearing people tell me the last month that everything is going to be okay, that the mass will be benign, that I'm overreacting, it couldn't be related to the melanoma, etc. While statistics indicate they probably ARE right...I just get so frustrated with this. I know they are coming from a good place so I do not say anything but sometimes I'd just like to hear that they are sorry and wished they'd just listen to my fears without a condescending remark. And I'm talking about people I am close to...family, friends, coworkers. People who I know only want the best for me. It's almost like if they say it will be okay...it will be. But they can't REALLY know that and maybe I just want to talk about that "what if," no matter how unlikely. But now, I feel afraid to even mention my fears to anyone because, while wholy I AM remaining positive, I AM scared too. And I know darn well they would be too. But the last thing someone who is scared wants to hear is a condescending remark about how everything is going to be okay. My sister, a nurse, is the only one being "real." I appreciate her honesty and knowledge (since I won't get on the Google). She does seem to be on the opposite side of the spectrum but, still, I rather have that than a downright denial of my fears. And, another "friend" has been almost angry with me...like she's MAD there might be something wrong with me. But, she's a "one-upper" who craves attention so I guess I'm not surprised. If you hurt, she's hurting 10 times worse. She recently implied that, because she knows someone who is supposedly "bone on bone" in their knee but Tylenol works just fine...that I am somehow overexaggerating my pain level. Today, she got extemely angry with me after baiting me into an argument (she already knew my opinions on the topic of discussion) and she brought it up asking my opinion through our work instant messenger. She ended up saying something hurtful. She said that I don't understand [her opinion] because I don't get walked on (was related to work). First of all, she KNOWS I have absolutely been walked on at work and second, who says that to someone just because they don't agree with you?
I really feel like I don't have anyone to TALK to. My fiance works all the time and he didn't even call me Monday night after I I talked to the doctor. So, actually, he didn't even KNOW what was going on until I texted it to him yesterday evening. It's like he doesn't even care either. So I am very hesitant to even discuss this with anyone until after because what will happen is it will end up be nothing (which is definitely what we all want) and then I'll get all the "I told you so's." Or they'll tell me something like, "See, all that worry for nothing."
Oh geeze...I'm so sorry I got on a rant there. I guess all this was bothering me more than I thought it was!
(((HUGS))) to us all...whether we are feeling positive...or we aren't! May our feelings ALWAYS be validated...if not, at least they will be here.
Great hopes for Tuesday to come soon.
I am sorry that those around you are not taking this seriously and am thankful you have a sister who understands.
JC today is a day that I am glad it is ok to not be ok because I am not ok. Our weather is brutal. Ice is coming from the sky. Anyone want an Icee? What flavor?
