We have not had the wait that long, but a 2 hour wait is not unusual. The doctor does hospital procedures in the morning and any problems there drive his schedule the rest of the day. It is not as bad now because most of us long-term patients have been moved to using his PAs and only meeting with many of his patients if requested. Not happy about this, but at least the wait time has been greatly reduced.

that really seriously is off base...wow I would have left a complaint with the desk...that is past the dinner time for most people who are waiting for the doctor...I def would write to the doctors office to tell them exactly how that felt and that you would hope he never had that happen ever again. Just peace of your mind would help the office understand the problem that they prob did not even care about because it was most likely overtime for the paid staff...

Some patients have to wait 6 hrs or longer. Of couse these drs are the ones that know their patients can't go any place else for treatment.

Before my spine specialist's group got their poop in a group I resigned myself to the fact that I'd be there a long time. The longest I waited to be called back was four hours, two hrs was pretty standard & that wasn't counting the time in the exam room. Normally I would have walked out or switched Drs but he was awesome. What used to irk me was he charged $520 an office visit. Rarely did the visit with him last more than a half hour. I wish we could bill the Drs for our time & inconvenience no matter how good they are.

I get my pain managed by a Pulmonologist. The same doc who has been taking care of me since I was released from the hospital two years ago. I don't have to wait long at all. He is a good doc to me. I just dumped my pain management doc's because I got the feeling they were more interested in making money off me than helping me. I couldn't get the doc on the phone, or to answer any of my messages for weeks. I skipped his appointment yesterday. I hope he wonders to himself why I didn't come crawling back to him. I sent him emails detailing why I dropped him as a doctor and not one word from him. My current doc is all good with the new DEA rules because he does not prescribe a lot of pain killers. He is under the average prescriber in the area. So he has no problem continuing to treat me as long as I do not ask him for more than what he is currently prescribing. Any how, I hope you get the pain management that you need for your situation. We all have our own roads to travel when it comes to chronic pain and how we get it treated.

My doctor is at a headache center in Philadelphia. My typical wait is 2-3 hours every time. So I always bring my kindle.

hey all!!! Disclaimer, I have only had about three hours of sleep and am only awake because the dog convinced me he had to go outside in the rain to go potty, when in reality he wanted to bark at the trashmen. I am now waiting for the dogs to dry before we all go snuggle back under the covers...

So the last time, eek it was also the first time, I saw my new psych doc at the VA hospital, we got there an hour early due to zero traffic. Something that only happens once in a blue moon in these parts. His office is out of the gen practitioners clinic instead of the mental health clinic - no clue why... All told, we waited for just under three hours, yes he was running two hours behind. The weird thing was that at no point were we even in the top ten of strangeness. We only made the top 20 because of the big white polar bear I call a Service Dog. We are usually the strangest people in the room, yet in that waiting room we were not even in the running!!

I hate long waits in crowded places, but that was the weirdest wait I have ever had!

I don't care if the doc charged me for the missed appointment. I've been losing a lot of money lately. Had to send almost a hundred dollars to go back to my old doc and the cash price for Hydrocodone is up to a dollar per pill. I'm going to go broke at a record rate. At least the old pain management doc finally got the message. I am open to the pain pump being placed, but I have a lot of reservations about ever getting the spinal cord stimulator. When I find my next pain management doctor I might just use him for all non-narcotic pain control options and continue to use my Pulmonologist for the six Norco a day. Maybe eventually I can have the pain pump and get away from oral pain meds and all the bull that goes along with them. I just called my doc and within fifteen minutes he sent my script over to Wal-Mart. I'm good for another 20 days. Saved by the doc again. Now if I can get the cost of the meds down somehow. This is all just ridiculous that I have to fight every 2 weeks for pain relief not knowing when I will get cut off, and then consider every new script a small victory in my fight against pain. My pain level has been rising over the past few days. I thank god every day that I have my pain control right now. I hope the rest of you are having a low pain, low stress day.

Jeremy, something about the spinal cord stimulator really put me off too. I would be much more open to the pump. I hope you can eventually get one.
