I hope the injections gives you more relief. It is interesting how different each of our pain levels are. My husband would pass out if he took any of my pain meds or muscle relaxants. He has injuries and takes meds but like your husband they are much weaker. He has had injections and they have been somewhat successful, not perfect.
Thanks for sharing about the gel, I will have to check that out. Pills only do so much.

I have flat refused any injections into my spine. I have heard too many horror stories.
If you are getting relief from it.. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are all different and all react differently. Hind sight being 20/20 my bad healing is directly related to cancer.

I'm thinking that your issue is more that your doctor is treating you the wrong way. If topical pain relief works then it's more likely you have muscle strain or nerve pain. Narcotic pain meds won't help that. Have you ever tried a muscle relaxer or neurontin?
