There are several alternatives to try before you go that route. I would do a lot of research and get a second opinion first.
What are other treatments you have tried?
I have had over 35 nerve blocks and \I can tell you they did not help. I also had nerve burning surgery. I have rsd and so they only way to kill the pain is burn the nerve. Wrong burning the nerve does not kill it. I was walking in pain went I went in for my surgery to burn nerve going down left leg. Well I ended up being paralyzed from the waist down. I am in worse pain now/So please be very careful get at least three opinions good luck and write me any time isabee
Are you talking about ablation ?
My PM Dr said how you responded to the injections was a good indicator of how ablation would work.
( there are different kinds of injections, though, too.)
What ever you decide..
I wish you luck.

He did well with the preliminary injections and had the real thing done in two separate treatments about one month apart.
It has seemed to help him. He began to go out and do lots of yard work because he felt better and got himself tangled up in a huge flare that is just subsiding so now maybe we can see how he is feeling on a more even keel.
