Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

First I am so sorry you are in such pain.
If you are out of pain meds you need to find out what happened. did you take double by accident, if so you need a chart to write down when you took you pill. Did the pharmacy short change you, if so make them count them out in front of you next time. Did someone help themselves to your meds, if so, lock them up.
I was in a car wreck in November. The entire right side of my head and neck hurts 24//7. The neurologist is afraid to give me the standard prescriptions because of my heart condition so she said we had to go natural. ( Awesome!)
She had me start Magnesium Oxide 500 mg per day. Then I take the generic brand of Migraine relief. (be careful not to take too much Tylenol, because some of the prescriptions have Tylenol in them also). I put ice packs on my neck and head off and on all day long.
The magnesium helps relax muscles, so it should help the other muscles also. Hot baths or showers may bring some relief also. Soaking is better if possible. Do you have a tens unit? That may help.
The jerking could be from so much. Medications, pinching a nerve, motion disorder starting etc. Did PT give you any exercises to stretch the neck muscles. If so they normally recommend doing them 3 x per day. It may move the nerve that might be causing the jerking. Did they give you anything like Biofreeze to rub on the sore muscles. If not can you tolerate OTC stuff like Bengay?
Is there any chance that you could be dehydrated? Low potassium can cause extra muscle pain. Maybe eat a banana at night before bedtime and see if it helps on the jerking.
Just some thoughts, obviously I am not a doctor and I don't know what your injuries are. Hope there is something here that can help you until you see your doctor.
Best wishes-RJ
But I am concerned about missing meds too...did anyone have access to them or do you live alone? It might be that you took too many at one time and used them fighting pain but now are out and need refill before the due time...one of my concerns is that the dogs will get into my meds....if you have pets that could happen but the bottle would be found chewed up empty and doggie would prob be really sick...
I do not know how to ask about the head soars...are they on scalp only or on neck too on face anywhere? Scalp soars alone could just be from dandruff issues...I had those before...try something like Selsen shampoo if they are scalp only soars but if they extend onto neck or face see the doctor about them and maybe ask to see dermatology doctor as referral....
Wish I know what would help things with pain but RJR is right a warm bath sometimes helps and so does a heating pad...try one or both....
huggles
glad you felt it important to come share when you are in pain please come here and see if anyone knows how to give helpful support....huggles again
I think you need to find a Dr who can tell you why this is happening. Maybe a dermatological Dr can tell you about scalp sores. Are you using new shampoo, or color. If so, you could have allergic reaction to something you're using.
I know it's hard to find sts who listen, but they are out there. I know this because I have found some who listen we'll.
Please keep us posted. Will say prayers for you.
Hugs,
Mary Ellen

I've run short of my meds many times. Usually it's because at one point or another during the month, I needed to take extra and then am left short at the end of the month.
Also, I have had an incidence where I've been shorted by the pharmacy. I now count my pills before I leave the store. That way, they can fix the problem. Once you leave the store, you're on your own.
I pray you don't have someone in your home taking your meds. If this may be an issue, you need to lock up your meds.
As for your neck, this is what a resident told me to do many years ago and it still helps now because I get bad neck pain.
If you can take ibuprofren, take it evry 6 hours for a few days, even if the pain is relieved before then. It helps with the inflammation along with the pain.
Take as hot of a shower than you can stand. Stand under the hot water and let it hit your neck and shoulders. Gently stretch your neck, moving your head side to side, up and down. Stay in there as long as you can. Then use a heating pad afterwards. It was miraculous for me-totally helped my neck pain. I have torticollis (which involves the neck and shoulder muscles and it comes and goes and I do this when it starts acting up.
As for your head sores, have you ever been tested for lupus or another autoimmune disorder? Lupus gives most people a "butterfly' rash on their face, but when I have a lupus flare, I get head sores and a chest rash. It's only when I flare and through the years, I've talked to many people with lupus who get the same thing.
A shampoo like Clear can help. I've also found that dabbing Listerine on the sores help them to heal. I'd suggest peroxide, but you'd end up with white spots on your beautiful dark hair.
I hope this helps. I'm sorry you're in so much pain.If you're able to take Aleve or ibuprofen, they may help take the edge off. Let us know how you're doing, even if you just want to let your feelings out. That's what we're here for.
