This is the third time I am posting this because it doesn't seem to want to show up so I appolize if this gets put up too many times.
I got approved for ssdi and my 5 month waiting period is up finally and I get my first check at the end of next month. However I just had a hearing with medicaid and they are canceling my benefits. So to keep any insurance I have to go back to work. My question is you can make up to 1000 dollars before they start deducting your ssdi right? What I want to do is just work two days a week 16 hours because my insurance is 70 dollars every two weeks and they automically take it out of the paycheck so its about 140 a month and I calculated that if I work 16 hours a week the earnings I would receive before taxes are taken out is about 685. a month thats the gross amount would my disability be affected or no?

i'm on dsp and am only allowed to work a max of ten hours per week and that includes studies.
This is one of those really unfair situations. Make sure you have all the options explored.
I work for public benefits in my state, for DHS. While many laws are federal, there are some laws that are state run. Once you are determined eligilbe for SSD, there is a two year wait before you can get your Medicare.
You should also be eligible for SNAP's (food stamps)...with the medical, I would contact a Senior/People with disabilities advocate group in your area...they may be able to refer you to a clinic that will work with you or find alternate health care coverage for you that you are unaware of.
I would not reccomend going to work...you were just approved for SSDI...that basically says that your condition is serious enough that you can't work....it could get your SSDI pulled at the review time which are yearly.
