My grandfather has gout & staying away from red meat helps (I don’t known maybe you already know that but I figured I’d mention it if you didn’t & it would help)
Anyways I hope it gets better

And yet, this could be something else. I once had a cyst in the joint of the big toe and had to have it surgically removed. The joint was extremely painful to walk on. The surgery was an annoyance but not that terrible. Except you can't put weight on your foot for a short while. I went to a quack orthopedic foot doctor who misdiagnosed me and then I researched someone really good in my town and he knew by examining the toe and the joint and watching me walk. We did an MRI to make sure his guess was correct. The first quack never did any imaging. I learned a huge medical lesson there. My dumb BIL used this same quack doctor and recommended him highly. That should have told me right away to find an excellent doctor and avoid this quack.
And the covid, yikes, hope you are doing okay. It is still going around but less than it used to.
