Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Mettamuccil works for me along with Activia at times.
Still sounds like you may need some other opinions.
There are a lot of doctors out there & you may not have been to see the right one. There are painful bowel movements & I sure would not want to live like that every day. Its not normal & there has to be a cause & to treat it you have to find that cause.
I wish you the best.
Sammy
i hope you find a solution.

What your doc was referring to may be anal fissures, tiny tears (as in tearing fabric, not tears from crying, lol!) from straining so hard to move your bowels. That would cause scars, and severe pain when moving your bowels.
Maybe doubling the stool softeners would help more. Many here swear by peppermint tea.
As others have said, pain is pain, and you are more than welcome here.
Hugs,
Theresa
It is really important that you take stool softeners and get adequate fiber and hydration.
It is an embarassing problem and I had it last week. I was having a horrid time and had used all of the protocol listed above. I thought I will sit and die here before I will admit this pain to a dr. (meaning urgent care or ER). I finally began to get relief and it was over in a few minutes. Walking was quite uncomfortable.
All that to say, you don't ever want to get to that point again. Feel free to ask questions. There are several nurses on this forum.
Bowel problems are very common in chronic pain patients

I wish you well.
I wish you well.
I wish you well.
I thought at times I would have to get a spoon to go in after it, it was so horrible. I think you need to see a doctor who specializes on bowel problems and they have to go up there with that scope and see what is going on. Diet may be part of it but there may be some underlying problem that hopefully be taken care of.
Dont keep on trying to find out what the problem is because if you dont do it nobody is going to do it for you and it is no way to live you may have to see five doctors till you find the one who knows what the heck he is talking about so dont give up and good luck
