Home from trip with pain in more places than one!

My trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic came up quickly and I had no internet access. It is, however, one reason it's hard for me to travel so much with RSD. I ran into trouble on this one, and it wasn't b/c I didn't like the hotel. (Well, I hated it, but that's not why it worries me.)
With RSD and a cane, 2 flights, 3 airports and a taxi ride from hell, I arrived exhausted. There was trouble with the reservation and the room was SO far from the front desk that I rarely left unless needed.
One night I DID take the shuttle to the nearby casino and spent a few fun hours. I was finally happy, the warm weather was working on my RSD and then I ran into the Hippy Lady from Hell. Well, to be fair, I'm sure she is nice when not drunk.
Anyway, I found a hotel employee practically molesting a drunk woman in the hallway, trying to get her to an empty room with his pass key. I took her hand and yelled (I don't know WHERE I got my balls b/c I put myself in danger) at him to leave or I'd call the police. He was REALLY po'd but the language barrier was a problem. So I'm trying to help old drunk woman to her room after stopping her from being raped.
She says things like "where am I?" and "How did I get here?" and says that she didn't know the guy who had just been touching her most inappropriately. She kinda sobs on my shoulder and damn she stunk. Do drunk people realize how stupid they sound and look and act? And she was drugged, as well. I don't know what, but her pupils were dilated and she was seeing things. After I try unsuccessfully to get her down to the 1st level where HER room is (he had brought her all the way up to the 3rd floor and was trying to get her into a penthouse suite that was empty.)
She won't move, she says I'm "in her space" and "bumming her out". Did it turn in the the 1960's while I was there? I don't know what she was on but she smelled like a distillery and was happy I'd helped her 1 minute and angry the next.
I couldn't carry her and she kept roaming around and no one would come out and help me! Cowards. I saw 2 women pass her as the guy was groping her and they just said "Oh, gross" and went to their room. So old me with my cane had to step in.
I finally had to leave her slumped at the elevator to rush to my room to get to the phone and call front desk. I described the guy, and where I'd left her, and then went back down 2 levels to check on her and she was gone but I could hear the desk clerk helping her. She was LOUD. It was an "open" area hotel in the Caribbean. Anyone could get to your room, and with the unlimited booze involved, there were so many scenes.
I do wonder, though, what that woman was like in real life. She was all over the place in her boozed up and probably drugged state, and had become a bit dangerous when I decided to call the front desk. I know she would regret it all in the morning, but it was a huge place and I didn't see her.
Back in my room my foot was throbbing from trying to help her by setting the cane aside, and trying to get her down the stairs at one point. (She went back up.) I ended up feeling like I was having a panic attack when the front desk called asking me for he room key. (HE had it at 1st, I took it from HIM and she took it from ME after he ran off.) Then the front desk guy says, "This isn't a big deal." WTH? Taking advantage of someone out of their mind isn't a big deal?
Oddly enough the next day I was out by the pool (the one that was too cold to swim in while you died of heat.) The couple sitting near me argued and the man left his wife. It's an older hotel and they have real keys and give only ONE to each room. So now I had a drunk woman crying on my shoulder b/c she didn't know where her hubby was. That's it buddy, leave your soused wife near two large bodies of water where she could drown b/c she's so hot and drunk.
Dumb, dumb, dumb! WHY do people act that way? At my age this is the 1st time I've ever seen an adult person REALLY DRUNK. And they complain about CP patients? PUH-LEEZ! CP patients, at least the ones I know, don't go around overusing and acting like Blanche Du Bois or Lindsey Lohan!
Speaking of, one of the FEW high points while there was waking up and being unable to sleep and finding "Hey Paula" on a Fox station there. It was a Latino station but it showed 2 episodes and was from way back when she was "acting oddly". Since we'd just talked about her on here about her claim to have had RSD that "went away" I couldn't help but watch the shows and she was so obviously inebriated that I can't believe the show ever went on air. Wish I'd been able to find it again, might've gotten another smile.
Oh well, I'm home now. :)
Anyway, so much for one of the worst travel experiences of my life! This was worse than the NY blackout, worse than the Nassau Tropical Storm, an on par with the Icelandic volcano that left me stranded in London almost 3 years ago.

I'm home at 12:25am, trying to get a 2 year old to bed and realized I was a bit dumb, too as I got sunburned yesterday. Thought it was like a 1 day thing but ouch, it hurts! ;)
Yeah, it was quite a trip. I can see how alcohol added to the experience with Natalee Hollaway. Her friends should never have left her. You feel safe b/c nothing can happen to us, right? But we're targets and unfortunately, drugs and alcohol add to vulnerability. :( I wonder where that woman's friends were when she was wandering the hallways at night drunk out of her mind. Buddy up and know your limit.
I have to admit, I'm glad I don't like the taste of booze. It's why I didn't drink before the RSD meds were the excuse. I'm not saying moderation is wrong or drinking is wrong, but damn, whatever that woman did to her body is wrong. I'll never forget that smell, and the idiotic words coming from her mouth. She must've felt really stupid when she woke up the next day, IF she remembered. My guess, as was likely the attacker's guess, is that she was WAY too far gone to remember anything.
Still not sure if what I did was right or if I should've minded my own business. Maybe I just watch that show "What Would YOU Do?" too often, LOL!
That lady was lucky you were there sweetie. Just imagine my gosh.
I have a strong dislike for drunks also. Very little tolerance.
When I could drink I did not drink to get drunk & I was one of those that sat back & watched others & looked for a good laugh.
Not a big drinker but enjoyed a cold one on a hot summer night or when I was forced to go to a social event where all the ladies would huddle together & talk about some poor soul. Yep can't stand that. So I'd grab a drink sit off in a chair & wait for someone who disliked it as much to join me. usually someone did.
I would not want to relive that vacation. Holy moly your foot must have been hurting. God bless you for caring, It amazes me how many people don't take the time & in a strange country.
You have guts that's for sure. I hope this lady remembers that someone brave & smart came to her rescue but sounds like she might not remember much.
I'm sorry it was such a rotten trip. When you get away you want it to be enjoyable.
God bless, Sammy
