Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Good luck to you,
Hopefully something gives next week!
So greatful for your reply, hope you're doing well :)

I'm very sorry to hear you have this dreaded disease. I had a horrible case of it many years ago.
Back when I was seeing an OB/GYN it was suggested that birth control pills helped, I'm not sure it this is still a prescribed treatment or not.
When I had it, we had 2 young children at the time, both under age 4. I worked full time and would come home so exhausted and in such horrible pain that I could only lay on the couch and watch the kids play, watch my hubby make dinner, and everything else.
I was given 3 options at the time. 1. Birth control pills, which I could not take because of blood clots during my first pregnancy.
2. Was another medication (can't remember the name). It was at that time $300.00 a month. Needless to say with 2 littles one we just flat couldn't afford that.
3. Was a hysterectomy (total). Basically, we had to settle for #3 because our insurance covered almost all the cost. And I could no longer function in the condition I was in. I was bleeding 3 weeks out of every month.
I had the surgery and things cleared up right away (so-to-speak), after the surgery they put me on replacement hormones. Which after taking them for about 4-5 weeks it became known that they were very toxic to me. My pcp at the time told me had I kept taking the for another 2 weeks (there about) they would have killed me!
Sweetie, you are very young, maybe to young to have children(?). I you are planning to have a family, possibly find a doc that has is more knowlegde dealing with this disease.
You do not say what type of doc you are seeing, but a suggestion of an OB/GYN is my thought.
I wish you the best. Do a ton of research on the net. Be quick about it though, this disease can be fatal for some. I don't want to scare you, just inform you.
Good luck taters. I so feel for you.
I had endo, had many surgeries, hyst, more surgeries, now cp.
DO find a endo specialist, not just a gyn that thinks they know endo, do some searching.
I would ask for something for pain, the find a pain clinic.
take care

Also try some meditation, yoga, qi gong, or other method for gently building the body and calming the mind.
How about heat or ice?
Watch your diet carefully. Eat healthy and light, as you certainly don't need any more pain in the midsection.
I agree that making sure you have a real endo specialist is important.
I hope you find relief.
Firstly, I am young, 19 right now - 20 in August I have a boyfriend and we've been together 8 months.. we're not ready for the commitment of children, however understand my condition may put us in a situation where we need to think about it seriously before it gets to a stage where I can't. Right now as far as we are aware we don't need to think about that. We would like to be together for abit long, get married, buy a home, and travel abit if my condition permits.
I've tried numerous birth control pills (did not work),
Depo Provera (did not work + gave me osteoporsis in my hips),
Progesterone tablets (not working!)
(they won't try the implant on me as they dont think it will work since the others dont),
(they wont try mirena with my history they dont think that will work either)
etc
For pain,
Panadine forte, over the counter drugs, and now tramadol.
I havnt tried any other pain medication and I hope come Wednesday the professor places me on something that works!
I use a heat pack also.
What I mean by lasering stuffing me up is since my lasering I have gotten progessively and very quickly WORSE... so Im putting it down to that. I'm not seeing my my Gyno at the moment as he doesnt seem to understand Endo enough (he did the lasering and put me on the progesterone that doesnt work).
The doctor I am seeing come Wednesday is a professor (I dont know if in the USA you have these.. he is the highest type of doctor to go to, there's no doctors above this one) who deals with Endo and IVF, he is AMAZING! And he is going to refer me to a clinic here that he and his collegues work in that deals only with endo, treating it and pain management of it. However I need him to re-assess me I think, to find out why I'm getting so much worse with my pain.
I try to be active, however since the pain getting worse and worse it's been very difficult. I think my diet is fine, I dont have much junk food and I eat alot of vegies and so forth.
I hope I answered all your questions and I thank you for the imput! I guess really there is only so much you can do and I think right now I am doing all I can based on your suggestions. Hopefully things look up.
I appreicate all your responses so much! They are wonderful! and I will be mindful of them all :)
I hope you're all going well!
Thanks again!
I am a believer in complimentary therapies and i made up a blend of oils for myself having studied aromatherapy. I used geranium chamomile and lavender mixed in a base oil. blend a few drops of each together in a small bottle until you get a smell you like then add to 50 ml of oil. Massage the front of your abdomen and around your hips and across your back. morning and night it will help to ease the cramps.
Lay off caffiene sugar and stodgy foods. drink lots of water before you ovulate and before your periods it lessens the hormones that you produce at these times.
Hope this helps
Jenny
I'll let you know what Wednesday brings =)
