Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

With so much related to health/pain issues being out of our control..
It's difficult not to feel powerless sometimes.
I think it gives us more hope if there are aspects of it that we can.. and do.. have some control over.
Like making healthy choices.
Parts of my doing this are .. quit smoking a couple of yrs ago...
Dietary changes..
And..I keep trying.. in spite of repeated added pain due to it..
To keep some level of active.
These things make me feel better because they're healthier choices..
And also because..
For instance..
I don't have to feel like the goddamned fool with COPD that answers " yes.. two packs a day"
Currently..
I'm on the opposite side of the weight issue than I was my first couple of years here. I'm having to watch what I eat some, due to the weight gain since quitting smoking ( not complaining..I'd rather have a couple of extra lbs than be the very under weight I was when I was so sick)
So..
What can.. and do..
You do for your health?
( you never know when what you say might help someone else..
A friend here recently mentioned making an effort to get outside each day.
Which I think is. GREAT health goal.
Hugs

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I find meditating good for my health. It allows my muscles to relax as well as my mind. Thank God I can still do it. I'm easily hypnotized. I miss my walks. I lost hiking/walking in 1996. Walking was such a stress reliever for me. I miss it terribly.
I'm also doing much better with eating more fruits and veggies. Drinking a lot of water feels good, too.
It took me several years to learn how to control the few aspects of my health that I could. For a while I would just panic when the pain got bad and give in to it. Ok, sometimes I still do...
I quit smoking 6 weeks ago. I think smoking after my neck surgeries is one of the reasons it healed so poorly.
I have my two horses that get me outside to care for them several times a day. Sometimes I need help from a friend on bad days but I always get out there. They are the best therapy I could ever ask for. I am SO grateful for them!
Just to be clear of the " topic " ( I reread it and see that it's not at all clear. :-) :-)
What can you do for you?
Diets..meditation..horses..
All great things!
:) xox
Other than 3 kinds of arthritis I have several autoimmune issues so over the years I've tried every diet know to man. Nothing helped that much. I have no allergies or food triggers. It's in my blood & I can't change that. So I kept what made me feel better and left the rest.
It's something I do have control over when my body tends to have a mind of it's own for the most part.
Over the past few days we have had some really good points put out in the different threads.
1. Taking responsibility for yourself and how you respond to the medical and emotional challenges we are facing. For me, I need to remember that my medical is my problem and people do not want to hear about it.
2. It is a choice to enjoy each day we are given, in spite of the pain and sickness. Learn a new hobby, make a new friend, find some new meditation tapes, anything positive to distract oneself from the negative part.
Good post JC, glad to see you popping in more.

I am not able to get much exercise due to pain. But I try to keep up with chores when I can. And I try to get out at least once a week. Shopping is my favorite activity ;)
I will also get a $20 gift card for first year renewal in person at the store....so I can use that to pay for the thing tomorrow! woo hoo
my business account allows 1 extra person to get a card and it allows one business use card too...so I offered to get my sister a card she can use in Ohio as she does not have a sams card....just buying gas can save here then....good deal....
I love to exercise when my doctor allows me.
I gave up all artificial sweeteners about 3 years ago and it mad the muscle pain and cognitive issues I had so much better. It was so exciting to have that happen.
I love to do walking meditations which really help me.
JC you always have such upbeat topics and I love it.
I also like to journal my feeling which helps when I can't do some other things for health reasons.
